Drilled my NVS today w/ a weird layout
« on: March 25, 2009, 11:34:11 AM »
Already have a CNV and a NVD, so I decided to go with a weight block I've had some success with.

I went with a layout I've NEVER used before, though:

-----------
----o-o---P
-----------
------CG---
-----------
-----O-----
--MB-------

Yep, Mass Bias in the track.

I wanted to get some feedback on what people think of this layout. I threw about 6 frames with it and left 1 tenpin. The rest were strikes. As far as "new ball carry" goes, nuh uh. This is the 4th or 5th drill on this ball.

Anyway, for me, very versatile. I threw 2 shots up the track (10-7), 2 on my normal line (arrows 14, break 6), and 2 standing against the ball return with slower speed, (arrows 18-19, break 10-11). Every shot crushed the hole. Only 1 ten pin. Ball took speed adjustments in stride, read the lane well. Just amazing. I don't know if it's the ball, the layout, or the bowler.

Now, I'm a high tracker, and my "bowtie" in the flare is usually just left and above the middle finger. This ball, however, is tracking over both middle finger and thumb, with the bowtie below the middle finger.

So, any success with this layout? What are your thoughts on what the ball is doing, what this layout is supposed to do, etc...I've never used a layout like this.

I had a total nv drilled like this, that layout list described it as killing the flare, but it's not aggressive, but very smooth and arcing, i gave away the ball to another junior bowler because it was only 14 lbs, but the layout was decent, i am only a 170-180 avg bowler, and my high sanctioned game with this ball was 267

i shoulda kept it and tried selling it, it was still first drill T-T and only had 30 games on it
