Magic Flexol Cover
« on: February 22, 2009, 05:56:07 PM »
Guys/Gals,

I just wanted to spread some information I found out about the magic after emailing ebonite and inquiring about what was included with my ball, this is what I have gathered regarding the Flexol Cover. This is one of ebonites first attempts to make a oiler that does not soak up much oil. Its some chemical process that they say is independent of oil absorption, and still creates a strong reaction in oil. I only found this out after I emailed Ebonite, asking what the Flexol Cover is, and noticed that this is the first ball that would wipe entirely clean after using it in heavy oil, without scrubbing. I bowled 11 games with it Tuesday, 10 Games Saturday with it, and 9 games Sunday with it. I cleaned it after I was done bowling, and it had sat on the rack once I switched to my agent orange. It just wiped away clean, where as my AO I had to scrub to get all of the oil off of it. As I compare it to my VG, after around 30 games or so I would have to hit it with an abralon pad to restore some of the reaction even after cleaning, as it would shine up and absorb oil. The magic is at 4000 as well, and still has the same finish on it as when I first bought it. This may be why they are claiming this is the ball they have thrown for 5000 shots, and it still reacts the same. Either good marketing propaganda or good R&D, we will see!

Update: just decided to put a few more games on it, went out to our local flood house... Brunswick Zone. Well I shot 209-267-257 all 3 with the Magic for a 737 series. After that I just alternated between the Magic and the AO, and I think out of the 10 games I shot one 199 game, other then that it was 210+ all night. This was a big test again for the magic, synthetics and flooded conditions usually equals sub par reaction for me. My VG used to slide on this same condition at 4000 abralon.

Just wanted to give everyone an update: Now up to 120 games on the Magic, 70 on the Hot Sauce pearl.. By now my widow bite/venom would have had two baths and a resurface or two. Magic and Sauce still going strong.. No resurface or hot water bath needed yet. I think we may have some winners here!

Its a great core and cover match up.I had to add some polish to mine but it still reacts great on a freshly oiled shot.
