Angular One vs. Shift
« on: April 02, 2007, 01:41:00 PM »
My 5 day old shift is cracking and since i really didnt like the layout and dont want to try another i was thinking an Angular One since i have wanted one from the day they came out. How well would this complement my TNV? How does it compare to the shift? I throw med to med-high speed with a lot of revs. Thanks

The Angular and the TNV are too close with the AO being slight longer with slightly more backend. Unless the drillings and/or coverstock surface were different, they'd overlap too much.

DO you want to handle more oil or less oil than the TNV?

Probably close to the same but i want it to read earlier since i am now throwing more speed and i drilled up the TNV when i had less speed. Also the TNV doesnt read drier backends very well for me because i had it with a softer smoother backend. So earlier and more backend are what im looking for... Also interested in what the Absolute One will look like and react like...

Have you contacted Storm about getting it replaced?  They have excellent customer service.

My pro-shop guy has no problems with that and he has pick ups tomorrow so im going to practice and drop it off. I bought it from him and picked it up last wednesday and noticed the crack sunday. Good because the layout was more of a test and it was with a lighter weight and now that neither suite me im sticking with 16. Really lucky on my part...

Well, try the Angular One (I assume you meant "Angular", not "Absolute", as in Inferno.) in stock box surface in order to compare it to the TNV. Then when you think you have an idea after 2 or 3 sessions on different patterns and lane surfaces, try sanding the Angular One LIGHTLY with maybe a 4000 grit Abralon pad to take the shine off. If that's isn't enough differentiation, sand it to 2000 grit.

You can try that with the TNV also, as both it and the AO are 4000 grit PLUS Factory FInish polish.

Maybe one or the other will react better for you with the slightly rougher surface.

The AO at 2000 abralon is a beast, gets reving up in the mids and then attacks the backs with authority. I like it.
