Anybody out there own the Ebonite ball rack that they sell? I need a nice and organizied place to store all my older gear and was thinking about this rack. I'm wondering if they're solid and not poor quality. Let me know if you have one or if you know of someone who does. Thanks!

I've been wondering the same thing. I've been considering one of those for quite awhile. It looks pretty utilitarian in the photos, and looks to me like it might very well kind of need a bit of bracing in the back. I hope somebody has one and can give us some feedback on it.

Only 6 balls on there because it's not strong enough to hold 12 or only 6 on there because you just don't have more balls to put on the rack?

I'm sure you could build a sturdier one for less, but I'm lazy. I have one of the Ebonite racks and it's fine. Holds 12 balls with no problems.

Ours is holding up quite well with 12 balls on it. However, it did not come preassembled.

ive had mine for a year with 12 balls on it...i only switch out balls from the top

its fine...good enough quality i guess

had to put mine together w/o a powered driven screwdriver(which i left at parents house)..made putting the thing together take about twice as long and a tired wrist later

Thanks for the replies everyone! As usual, I appreciate the feedback given here. I'll be getting one of these racks as soon as I can. The wife is complaining about all the balls on the floor.

If you don't have a power drill, be prepared for a few blisters in your palm.

Let me put it this way. These racks are fine for storage, where you're putting one on or taking one off a few times a week. But there's no way one of these would survive as a ball storage rack in a busy bowling alley, with people dropping balls on it. It wouldn't last a day, IMHO.

The quality is definitely mediocre. Some of the pre-drilled holes didn't line up on mine, which is where the blisters came from.

It was worth the few bucks it costs, but I'm not looking forward to assembling another one.

I have two of them .. if I had more wall space in my office I'd have a third! I agree they would not survive in a bowling ally .. but for storage at home .. CAN'T BEAT THEM!

I don't have POWER TOOLS and had no problem putting the racks together. Think it was eight screws per shelf with four shelves or 32 screws .. each holds twelve balls in an EASY ACCESS environment! I think they have come down in price since they originally come out.

Truth of the matter is .. if you need more then one .. BUY ONE .. before you put it together buy the wood and duplicate the pieces and make it up yourself .. it's easy enough!

Built my own, 2 x 10's for the ends, 2 x 4's for the shelfs with a 45* angle cut for the balls to rest on, 2 x 2's under the shelves for support, 2 x 4's for the base. I put 3 screws for each end of each 2 x 4. I also countersunk the screw, applied wood putty over the top and used liquid nails. I am pretty sure that thing is never coming apart.

If i can I will get a pic of it. Dimensions are 36" tall x 8 1/2" wide(shelf portion) x 29" long.
