Ebonite Cyclone GB - Private run
« on: February 15, 2015, 11:48:01 AM »
Got this drilled to roll early to be a control ball for med/hvy to med. conditions.

Threw it on house shot and what a beautiful controlled arc. OOB 2000 grit.

16-21 strikes, 4 ringing 10's, final ball was one 4-7 (I missed left a bit). This thing hits like a tank.

I loved it so much, I just ordered another to drill pin up and throw on some polish.

Price also has been reduced from $99.99 to $79.99.

There are some great throwers in that house!

How does that ball differ or is better than the Gamebreaker 2?  How does that ball differ from that Cyclone?

PS that woman stylist is so firm through the ball that I thought she had a wrist brace on!  Wow!

Gamebreaker 2 vs. Ebonite Cyclone GB....I don't have a Gamebreaker, but according to Rich Jacobson (who ordered this batch) he said the Cyclone will go a bit long and snap a little harder.

The way I drilled mine is for early roll. On my regular Cyclone it's pin up, so longer for sure.

Reg. Cyclone is in proshop getting span in ring finger corrected...was 1/8 too long and could get tendonitis with it being stretched.

So will compare my reg. Cyclone vs. this one next week.

anyone else have any comments on this Solid Cyclone vs the common Cyclone(pearlier) and the Ebonite Gamebreaker 2.

Have you seen just 2 of them against each other?

I have both the regular Cyclone and the Cyclone GB. Now, we drilled the Cyclone GB axis leverage to be control/rolly, so very different shapes for me.

I do have a second Cyclone GB that we will drill pin up and polish, will compare that to my regular one and keep you posted.

Maybe it is my ignorance.  The "regular" Cyclone is listed as GB 10.7 with no specification for solid or pearl.  This "private" Cyclone is listed as solid GB 10.7.

Usually when I see a coverstock listed on a spec sheet, I assume it is solid unless otherwise noted with pearl or hybrid identification.  Based on this assumption, I would think this "private" Cyclone is a "regular" Cyclone with a different surface prep, 2000 versus 4000 with Powerhouse Factory Finish.

Ok, talked with Rich. Lots going on with GB10.7 coverstock.

The original cyclone Black/Gold/Silver one was also a solid. They other colors have variations of hybrid/pearl in them. He said they seems to add some other additives to tweak this coverstock, so not all GB10.7's covers are the same.

Also, the colors on the Cyclones do vary a bit in reaction.

In the end, his Cyclone GB is a solid at 2000 and would not be the same as one of the current models finished at 2000.

Thank you very much for going thru all that work to clarify this situation. (Of course, why Ebonite did not provide this simple bit of info from the start is another question.)

As anyone who bowls on a harsh wet dry can observe.  Solids come off the harsh much smoother than do pearls or pearly hybrids.

My Cyclone Blue Gold Navy I switch to when I don't need push but I do need a rapid response.  Strong off the dry!

When I am alone on the left, usually won't need the Cyclone but when other lefties join and soften the shot.  Ooh I like it!

Looking for that bowling alone on very harsh side to side  reaction ball.  Smooth and Strong!  Threw an original gamebreaker recently on our easier right side.  My My.

Not saying the current GB 10.7 is the same as this "solid" version, but the appearance of pearl does not necessarily mean the coverstock is pearl.  My understanding is the pearl look additive is different than the pearl reaction additive.  But again, could be my ignorance.

I don't know any of that.

I just know when I bowl on a strong side to side wet dry, the game breaker moves more like my clearly solid Reign of Power as far as speed of reaction to the friction.

The pearly "looking" Cyclone moves in response to the friction faster than both above and almost as fast as my Lightning fast Freakin Frantic.....just earlier!
