any one have success with this ball I Just got mine today on trade just wondering best surface prep u guys found with this ball. I bowl on medium oiled lanes with not the cleanest backends, It is an old wood house that normally smooth sanded balls dont usually react well.

To be honest I had a lot of mixed emotions when it came to my Evolve... at the time I got it I was looking for a heavy oil ball and picked the evolve over other balls like the virtual gravity, this was a mistake for me. The evolve proved to be, at OOB, a great medium oil ball, good on a THS, but was very 'wiggly' at the break on much more oil than that. I sanded the cover down to 1000 and still couldn't get a good read on heavy oil, ended up selling the ball.

The ball was great on medium oil though, so for you, given what you say you bowl on, it might be perfect for you. I personally didn't like mine, but only because I got it to use on heavy oil, and for me it was far from being able to be used on that.

what I am wondering what surface would u put it at to be a touch stronger than my bank pearl cause I need it to fall higher than that

I'd be much more cautious about where to put the pin than the coverstock prep.

while the coverstock is strong-ish, the base RG is high as is the differential.

Depending on your ball speed, this ball can be very flippy ESPECIALLY if you're rev dominant. The right pin placement and the right MB placement (or Drill angle and VAL angle) for your ballspeed/tilt/rev rate/rotation combination is of the UTMOST importance.

If you're speed dominant, you might be better off trying a 500/4000 grit or a 500/2000 grit combination, rather than the stock 1000/2000/4000 grit combination.

i am rev dom speed around 17 revs 475+ I was thinking about 500 2000 I want a stronger ball than my bank pearl the ball is drilled stacked leverage pin is placed about an inch above and to the right of the pi and the and the mb is about an inch right of the thumb the ball looks like it is about a 3 inch pin and cg ended up around mid grip and the ball has a 7/8 inch weight hole on the midline of the ball the hole is about an inch deep. Ball is oob condition but the surface dosnt feel very tacky so I am gonna to a light surf and take it from where it is now and but it at 2000 and skip steps and go from 500 to 2000 and see where that puts me this ball is kind of a mystery I havnt seen anyone throw the ball and not alot of info out there on the ball Kinda wondering if the ball is kind of a flop or if the ball just never took off no clue

Have one drilled pin down (roughly a 5" pin to pap) with a low hole and the mb at 60*.

Have had multiple surfaces on it, has worked well from medium to light medium at 4000. Ball is not a dud, just not the hook monster many were hoping for when it was released. VERY good carrying ball, doesn't explode the pocket, but have had multiple honor scores with it.

Friend who is speed dominant has 3 of them, he loves them. 2000 is a good place to start with your stats. Keep us posted.

I agree with Krumpy, start off around 2k, going 500 then 2000 might give you a little more bite, which may be ideal. I am not sure exactly how strong overall your Bank Pearl is, as I have not done a lot of research into the ball, but from what I have read it sounds like a smooth rolling pearl, not a huge hooking ball... however on medium oil you might be somewhat hard pressed to get the Evolve to hook all that much more than it... just my opinion though, I am just speaking from what I saw with my Evolve vs. the strong pearls I have.

However it is a good medium oil ball, probably could be a decent bench-mark ball.

I actually regret getting rid of mine. It was a great ball to have and one of the very few solid balls that I could throw well with whether it was sanded or polished.

Sounds about right. IIRC, people said it was a pretty mild ball. Maybe good for a bench mark, but far from what it was advertised to be:

@qstick: actually that ad is about right, the ball is inherently long and comes back quite sharp and strongly. I usually pull it out if I need to play really deep to avoid out of bounds areas on the outside. Even at 30+ at the foul line, for me, the ball has enough to turn and carry. Needs some rotation tho if you want to finish that deep.other

another application is when you need the ball go long on a ths and still recover (maybe to generate correct angle of entry). However it is not for heavy oil

Guys,

Remember that the RG of the Evolve was 2.57. That plus the true 4000 grit Abralon cover provides a ton of natural length. Heck, the new Nano coverstock if it had that RG and that finish would go long with a hard backend!

If the Evolve cover was around the V2/Gamebreaker core and sanded to 1500 or 2000 grit, it would be a much different ball.
