Ebonite Magic Action
« on: January 19, 2010, 05:35:45 PM »
Ok well I have finally thrown this beast. As a recap my magic action is drilled pin under ring, cg kicked out a bit to the right, with a large weight hole. This ball was never thrown in box finish.. it was thrown with beans sauce over the box finish. On a fresh ths.. all I can see is wow... this thing might be too strong. What I mean by that is it was easily 4 boards stronger then my mutant at box finish with a similar drilling, and definately more continuous. I am afraid to knock the polish off and test it at box finish without the polish. I was able to throw it for 4 frames before having to put it away in favor of my Black Widow Nasty. I am very impressed with the ball motion from the Magic Action. When I first threw the ball I thought it was going to slide into the 10 pin, and then the ball just snapped left.... this will be ideal for a heavy heavy oil pattern. I will definately stay ebonite. Pics of the layout can be seen here: http://s647.photobucket.com/albums/uu195/tizzle08/Latest%20Arsenal/

Another key thing to note was how the oil just wiped away from the cover.. Just like the magic the oil doesn''''t absorb.. it kinda of sits on the cover.. very weird.. but obviously the Flexol works!

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag...
Magical Action, a Nasty Spider, a very Sharp Noise, and a Spare Track.. how can I loose....

....HG-300(2006 w/Desert Heat)...299 (03/15/09 w/Agent Orange)...HS-776 (Hot Sauce Pearl & Ebonite Magic)

Definately above the jigsaw by far.. I had the jigsaw and I can tell you they are completely different animals. You can use the jigsaw as a stepdown to the Magic Action.

its weird how you say its soo much stronger
bj rated mc 58
and ma only 49
and it also has the same numbers as the nvs
are they comparable?

No. NVS is nothing like this thing. My handle is from loving that series, especially the Complete NV, and I have had at least two of every NV release. This ball is much stronger than all of them.

Plus 1....MA is more than anything in your lineup.

And I haven't even played with layouts/cover prep yet. I like this one so much that I won't touch it....I will try my 2nd favorite layout in a few weeks and play with the cover because the way I read the motion I think there might be more if I want it.

Btw I am not an Ebonite guy at all. Just the NV and old Wolf lines work for me. Not much else has. Knowing they used the NV blocks in the Magic series is only why I tried this one.

The Magic was a good ball, the Magic Touch not really. But the Magic Action is above the Magic. Great length, very forgivable, clear breakpoint and no over/under. I think the best Ebonite ball in the current lineup.

I am really thinking of dulling this one up and getting another one drilled pin over bridge... if the jacked doesn't work out... thats what ill do.

Went out today again.. this time to practice on a fresh pair that had not had a single ball thrown on it. I was out working on my spare shooting mostly but Also wanted to see how much recovery I could get out of it on a fresh ths. This is the same house as my Monday night league.. however the shot is a little different.. Less oil.. This is perfect to move in deep. I was able to move 5 boards deeper then my usual startup with the mutant. The ball just reads the pattern so well. I know when it leaves my hand if I am looking at a brooklyn shot or a flush shot. I left 1 10 pin in 3 games with the Magic Action. On the third game I was already close to having to loft the gutter cap to get it to stay on the right side. I switched to the Nasty.. moved 3 boards outside, and I stayed there for the next 5 games. give or take a board or two with my feet. I just can't believe how good these two go together. The magic action/nasty are the perfect 1-2 combo. I can say that these are definately not leaving my arsenal anytime soon! Averaged 209 over 8 games.. and would have been alot better, but I was trying to work on throwing hard and straight with my strike ball at the 10 pin instead of hooking at it with a plastic ball.

well, i've been throwing my two new balls, the Magic action and the mutant cell.  I drilled the MA pin under ring with the cg out about 35* and the mb mark under the thumb.  15lbs, 3 oz top weight.  Love this ball.  no I didn't shoot 2 300's and a 279, but shot 725 in league tuesday.  reads good and has a great break point.  I went wed. night and shot 635 with the mutant.  pin over ring cg about 35* and mb inline with those.  Same weight same tope weight.  This is exactly the same strength for me, just less of a defined break point.  Between these two I have the perfect two balls for the lanes.  thanks ebonite
