This time we got the chance to try the new Ebonite release, the Maverick Pearl. This ball is the pearlized version of the Maverick, released in December 2016.

The Maverick Pearl uses the same Maverick core found on the Maverick and it wrapped in the new GB 14.0 pearl coverstock, that provides more length and a more angular motion than the original Maverick.

This ball worked really well on our house shot (Kegel Main Street) we were able to play from multiple angles and the ball offered a lot of recovery and a strong backend motion. When we missed inside the ball had enough traction through the oil to still make its turn to the pocket, and when we missed outside, the ball just kept coming back to the pocket.

Our tester used the ball with the out of the box surface (500/1000 Abralon with polish) and has been able to use the ball in league the whole night. This ball is more house shot friendly for him than the original Maverick since the solid coverstock of the Maverick wants to pick up sooner and sometimes the ball is too much or it rolls out when there is not enough oil in the fronts. The Maverick pearl is cleaner than the Maverick, so it saves more energy to make a stronger move down the lane, providing great continuation through the pins.

This ball would be a great option for high rev bowlers or for low speed bowlers who need length and wants to see a big angular motion.

The Maverick Pearl is a versatile piece, even with its pearlized coverstock, the ball was strong enough to move through the oil and when it hits the friction it provides a strong backend motion without having that "hook-stop" motion that everybody hates. This ball will be usable for a lot many styles due to the strong, but clean coverstock.

This ball would be the perfect complement to the Maverick, once the Maverick starts hooking too much and you need to play steeper angles, the Maverick Pearl would be the ball of choice.
