Ebonite Pivot Point
« on: December 27, 2013, 02:21:01 PM »
Anyone have any info on this ball yet?  I can't find anything online. My pro shop buddy got a few in.

The only thing i know is that it is a pearl finish of the original Pivot.

That probably is the one and only difference.

Looks good though. Should be successful. The pivot was a bit of a sleeper in my area. A lot of people liked it once they tried it at demo day.

Nothing I've been able to find yet, either.

I first thought that this was the US Version of the Pivot Target, which it might be, if the coverstock is pearl. The Pivot Target has the same core, but uses a pearlized version of the NBT coverstock found on Hammer's First Blood. Other than that, this appears to look the same.

We'll probably see something in the next month for this.

I can not wait for this ball. Pivot is my go to ball this season and as more people have seen me throw it.. more people are buying them and loving them.

I demo'd the Pivot last week and was very pleasantly surprised. That ball is great! It recovers well from deep angles and retains hitting power. I hope to get one in the coming months. The pearl Pivot is a natural complement to the original Pivot so this is no surprise.

Also the cover looks like the Maxim and it has the word "point" in it, could it be a Taboo spare type ball?

Many manufacturer's caught on to this long ago and have requested that the USBC hold back that info until the world wide release date of information...

Possible, but I think one plastic ball with a real core from EBI's 4 brands is more than enough.  2 of 4 have/had "urethane" covers with real cores...

from a reliable source:
as stated above

pearl version of the pivot, not anything close to a spare ball.
Pivot is a very underrated piece, i think that it has not much for shelf appeal and that be hurting its sales.
A better color scheme or released as a Hammer brand and this thing flys off the shelf.
just my .02 worth though

How big would the performance difference be between this and the Legacy?

Specs about the Pivot Point are out now.

https://twitter.com/EboniteBowling

http://www.ebonite.com/products/balls/high-performance/pivot-point

Appears to be Pearl, but not sure. Same finish, as the Pivot, but polished. No videos yet, so it is still basically unknown how this will perform, especially compared to the Pivot.

Could be similar to how the Cold Blood performs vs. the First Blood.

EDIT: Only video I could find of this was one from bowlingball.com on Youtube. This ball, like the Pivot, needs oil, as the THS shot they used it on showed that ball checking up early, losing energy, rolling out, and almost deflecting off the pocket. But once they moved left, it started to react better. Even their tweener had to move inside 15 at the arrows to get a consistent look that continued through the deck.

I hope Ebonite puts out a good video for this, because I'm still tempted on the Pivot, and am interested to see how the Pivot Point compares to the Pivot.

the pivot is similar to the virtual gravity in its motion, except better
VG is older technology, this is a newer version
its a friggin beast............
i dont see the volume anywhere to use this and i have a bit of hand, so not for me.
912t was the same thing, way to strong for me
