Black Ice Problem

I am getting back into bowling after 40 yrs and I know the equipment is all new.  I was fitted up with the Black Ice drilled as a full roller and it doesn't seem to be working for me, it just goes dead straight.  The Pro wanted me to hold my thumb in the 10 o'clock position and I have since moved to the 12 noon position.  I get lucky and had a 175 last week, but was told that it was drilled too radical for me.  Any suggestions ??????  I just want a moderate hook with my slow ball speed.

just curious -

1.are you really a full roller?

2. Even though the Black Ice is a VERY mild ball, it should still hook if you hit the dry. Most lanes, with a house shot, will have some to a lot of dry outside. Try moving way outside (1st arrow or 3rd or 4th board) and go up the boards. Don't try to swing it.

Well, I'm not sure what a full roller is, so I'm not sure.  When I was fitted, he told me to hold the ball with my thumb at 10 o'clock and after a few games it didn't feel good so I changed to thumb at noon.  My track is between fingers and thumb and sometimes between fingers, I don't think I have any counterclockwise turn on release.

If the track goes between the fingers and the thumb, that is the determination of a full roller.

Try my suggestion about getting the ball to hook. If that still doesn't work, you needed a stronger ball to begin with and the proshop should have watched you bowl before suggesting the Black Ice. Unless you told him that was the ball you wanted, of course.
