i was at a demo and tried both the Angular One and the RSX300.
i noticed how differant they move to the pocket and was wondering:

is there any distinct advantage in bowling with a ball that moves straight until the last 20 feet and then hooks a ton to the pocket? if you get teh same hook with the RSX300 is it better to get that over say the One or the Infinite One? Basicaly, what are the advantages of late hook as opposed to earlier hook?

secondly, i bowl alot in lanes where the hook is tremendous. i cant find a decent line to play so im going to try out a columbia wrath someone gave me. does anyone know if the RSX300 or the Angular One would help me more on this kind of lane?

A ball that goes straight and hooks a ton on the last 15-20 ft or so is good for going around a hang spot or on lanes where the ball is burning up early. If you are experiencing what looks like carrydown and the ball isn't moving on the backend, throw this type of ball and see if it is really carrydown or the ball is burning too quick on the back end.

What kind of line are you trying to play? What kind of shot is it, does the ball hook early and hard, is there oil in the middle, how far does the ball go down the lane before it hooks, and what type of equipment are you throwing now?

Typically an arc-ing ball is going to be easier to control vs a skid/flipper. Though the skid/flip looks cool, it can be a bear to keep on the same trajectory each time unless you have a very solid consistent release.

Now if you normally bowl on drier lanes that hook a lot, you probably don't want either of those balls. Unless, you are comfortable moving way inside and adjusting your ball speed and hand release to create the proper entry angle from that inside line.

When you say you are unable to find a line. What are you experiencing? Do you hit the pocket but don't carry? If so what do you leave?

Are you sometimes in the pocket sometimes Brooklyn?

Are you consistently low in the pocket leaving buckets and washouts?

These answers along with answers to Coach Jim's questions will better allow people on the board to help you.
