Gamebreaker Drill
« on: January 12, 2008, 12:23:45 PM »
I'm buying a Gamebreaker.  Looking to get one with a 2-3" pin.
I'm looking for a stronger smoother ball that I can use on heavier and/or long oil (house and sport shots).  I have average revs (haven't counted) and average speed 14-15).  Last time I checked, my PAP was 5 3/8” x 1 5/8”.

If you need a ball for heavier and/or longer oil then this is not the ball to get. I have one and do not like using it on heavier conditions. My Rival is a few board stronger and carries better. Here are some other balls that I've bowled with and are stronger than the Gamebreaker: Resurgence, Rising, Supernova, Cobalt Solid, Attitude Shift, Black Widow Solid and T Road Solid. And they all hit better. Ofcourse you can still buy it and use it on heavier conditions but it won't react as well as the ones I listed. Good Luck

Alright, but this is what I'm getting.  What about the drilling?  What can I expect from this ball?

Drill it pin under and cg at 45 degrees. It reacts pretty well. I can tell you this because mine is drilled pin up 4.5 from pap & 60 degrees and my friend's pin under (not sure of his pin) and at 45 degrees and his ball reacts and carries alot better. But he still struggled on heavier conditions with it so recently drilled up a Resurgence for heavier conditions and he loves it. Good luck.

I think you should try a Ebonite Angular One ,This is a terrific ball
for long oil.

That type of drill should maximize the ammount of flare that you'll get out of the ball.  If your going to get the ball for heavier oil, I would suggest lowering the pin a bit, to like 2 1/2" or so.

As far as micbowl saying that the ball doesn't hit, and doesn't hook that much, these are subjective impressions.  My gamebreaker, which I just drilled, is pretty strong and hits very well.  The core that's in the ball is quite rolly, and if you try to play in without a higher rev rate, the ball really won't change direction very rapidly, and you may leave a few flat tens.  I personally tend to stick with asyms when playing in, and I prefer symmetrical stuff in general when playing up the lane.

The Angular is a polished pearl, and without surface changes, it won't suffice for most on longer patterns.  For long patterns, this ball would be a great piece to start out with, but as carrydown sets in, a strong sanded pearl may be a better option.

Yes everything is relative and subjective but I am able to compare the Gamebreaker with other balls that I used on heavier conditions. The Gamebreaker is a pretty good ball but not for heavier conditions. There are other balls out in the market that will perform better on this condition. I have friends that hook the ball alot more than me and have the Gamebreaker and they said the same thing to me before I even drilled mine. I guess like me you'll find out after you drill up the ball. Good Luck.

The ball isn't for a flood and I'm not trying to say that it is.  In general, it has a fairly strong coverstock, paired with an early rolling, low rg core.  The ball is very continuous for me, and is one of the more agressive balls in my bag.

With a low pin, it should be excellent for the shark, in that it is agressive and more even rolling, which allows one to play straighter.

A girl I know is tearing it up on wettish midlane league conditions with this thing drilled modified revs leverage...pin low and cg low and a low weighthole.

4 X 4 and pin down about one inch to the side and south of ring finger!

OThers on the same pattern are looking great with an Infinite ONE!  Great ball too!

it's not made for a flood but this is what you are going to get right?

I would go with a Resergence for the shark and floods.

I can throw it slower when I need to. I can get it down to 14, comfortably. Any slower and I tend to get inconsistent.

I know that this is an early, heavy rolling ball, and I'm wondering if a stronger drilling (pin under too) would make it roll out. I'm thinking 4 x 4 1/2, pin 2" above my midline. With my PAP, that looks like the pin would be just under and right of the ring.
