After my old one cracked from the pin all the way around to the thumb, I decided to get another.
http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=1/2618515793.jpg&s=x4Pin is just shy of 4" from PAP, below bridge, CG around thumb. I believe it was a 3-4" pin. Put a light coat of polish before I even hit the lanes.
First impressions:
The ball got down the lane very well and made a strong arc towards the pocket. Was bowling on well-maintained wooden lanes at Bardon. Your typical house shot. Dry outsides, oily middles.
I started out with my Absolute and got it out around 5 and it made a strong move to the pocket. Moved inside and tried to play in the oil and this baby hardly got into a roll. Dug out the new V2 and this thing actually went high on what appeared to be an identical shot. This being said, my V2 is stronger than the Absolute in oil and has a little smoother backend from what I've seen.
Got this ball to fit under my Apex when that ball is too much. On synthetics, the Absolute would be my choice but on wooden lanes, it doesn't move much at all. I'm not quite sure, it just keeps skidding. Synthetics this ball is a monster, just not on wooden.
What I like best about both V2's I had was that they were very continuous and carried all shots very well. I've never had a ball that carried light better than the V2. This ball was constantly splitting the 8 and 9 when I was in the pocket. It's not explosive, but keeps the pins real low. There's definitely balls that hit harder, but that's not necessarily better.
I can see why Ebonite has kept this ball around for so long. That's why I had to buy another. This has to be one of the best all-around balls I've ever thrown and one of the most versatile. Cover is easily changed and covers many conditions with ease. If anyone out there hasn't tried the V2 yet, I suggest you do. You wont regret it.
