Have some questions on ball selection
« on: November 19, 2003, 08:45:01 AM »
I’ve bowled for 15 years, 190+ average, 2 300’s with an Ebonite
Nitro. Ball Speed: about 15+ mph, low to medium rev rate, more towards
the medium, my track is low (coming in close to my thumb between fingers and thumb, I think).
Using The Beast (Purple) reactive resin on a house shot – medium oil, fairly tight line (11 to 8), med backend – miss a few
boards outside and you risk the washout or 2-10.
What I’m looking for (I think, feel free to correct me if I am
wrong):
A good looking ball (that’s important, right?) that will start
revving in the heads, enabling me to play a little deeper with a swing area –
in other words, open up the lanes a bit for me. The Beast has been
leaving some ½ 10’s and 7’s on good flush hits – so something with little to
no rollout would be good. Price range $$ between 90 and 130.
I asked at the pro shop and since I'm getting this ball for Christmas, I though I'd better make sure. He suggested a V2 Strong drilled 5 x 4 with three inch pin and 3 top weight. Tell me what you think.
Also, where is a good place to buy polish? All of the different polishes and companies selling them - very confusing. Thx in advance.
