Raid a solid?
« on: May 15, 2008, 01:18:37 PM »
Some say its a solid, some say its a pearl.  I looked on my drill sheet and ebonite.com and neither says which is which.  So, what is it?

Yeah, its certain that its GBV 12.7, but alot of people say its a solid version instead of the pearl cover used on the Angular One.  BTM says its a solid version, but there isn't anything official from ebonite that supports or concurs with the remark.  Thats why its confusing.

It's suppose to be a solid version of the Angular One GBV 12.7 to smooth out the backend reaction. If you compare the two side by side you can see that there's not any pearl in the Raid. You can polish the Raid, but you still don't see the pearl in the coverstock. Thanks, Bruce

Ebonite likes to miss to mention whether the coverstock is a solid or pearl - you cannot be sure until you either see it in real life or get a valid desription.
I remember the SR300 - it was advertsised to have GB10.7, "the same coverstock as The One". Great, I thought, with the higher RG core, this solid ball should be what you are looking for. But then, opeining the box - it was a pearl ball! Thanks Ebonite for not telling it!

Beware!

I thought for sure the SR300 was solid.. The RXS300 was the pearl ball in that line..

And look here, it's definatly a solid. http://www.ebonite.com/products/detail.php?PRKey=265

From the picture I thought, too, it was solid. But it is definitively a pearl, any SR300 I have seen so far. It is not the kind of translucent candy pearl, rather a kind of mother-pearl shine. But it is not a solid ball.

Here's mine (sold):
