I was just browsing Ebonite's new site and seeing how their line up has changed.

I got the V2 section and boy have they really hit something here.....Right now, you could get all four V2's and have a sweet arsenal! Smooth, strong, predictable ! Very nice !

This made me ponder a question or two though......

The V2 is obviously one of the most popular balls out there...it's on it's 4th season...that is saying something. A ton of pros use this line...men and women!

That being said.....why don' t you see more of them in leagues ? I don't , so maybe it's just my area (metro Detroit). But if they're so popular (and I do beleive they are) wouldn't you think you'd see them ALL OVER the place ??

Especially now with 4 of them!! The only gap I see now is between the V2 sanded and the V2 dry...that's where the pearl fit in and now it's gone...anyhow.....your thoughts ??

Seeing how the V2 Dry is for dry lanes and the V2 Sanded is for medium-heavy (unless you're a fluffer), that's a hole you could drive a truck through or at least 2 more balls. Not a very good 4 balls arsenal unless you're a handy driller AND a ball surface modifier.

That's not saying you might not be able to make a very good arsenal out of these balls. My favorite is the V2 Particle; I think it is more versatile than the V2 Sanded, mostly because of its better natural length, but its longevity is a question without serious cleaning attention (or a touch of Elixir).

While the V2 Pearl was a nice ball on paper, in person it was a touch spooky. The Savage Pearl and the Stinger pearl covered the area intended to be covered by the V2P in a much better fashion, for the greater percentage of the bowling population.

I think it just depends on the bowlers in your area Jeff. While there aren't a ton of people out in my way that have them either...the ones that do have drilled atleast 4 of them for themselves. I myself am getting atleast 1 more V2 Black and have a V2 Dry on the way. Great ball and I can see why Ebonite hasn't gotten rid of it yet. But when they do I know there are people who will buy a case or two of them and stash them away.

About the gap made by the removal of the V2-Pearl...I believe the TPC Player will fill that gap when it is released. I'm currently waiting on that ball for myself.

True...it's a big gap, unless of course you polish a sanded to a marble and put a real high pin placement on it, 5 inches or more....but still a gap for sure, I don't think that would do it completely.....

I am of opion that what ball is the most popular, least popular, etc. in an area is more times than not controlled by the Pro Shop Operator. For example, one house that I bowl in, the Pro Shop Operator is a friend to a Senior Touring Pro sponsered by Columbia, so he pushes Columbia really hard. In the other house that I bowl in, the former Pro Shop Operator was a friend to a Touring Pro sponsered by Storm, so he pushed Storm really hard. He quit approx. 1 1/2 yrs. ago, and the new Pro Shop Operator that took over loves Ebonite, so of coarse he pushes Ebonite really hard, and now all of those bowlers that were throwing only Storm Balls, are now throwing V2's.

Plenty of V2's in Madison, WI especially the Sanded, over the last four years I think it would be harder to think of who doesn't have one. Myself I have a V2 Particle and love it. Which leads me to a question....

I got a Hammer Vicious Reactive drilled the same as my V2P to compliment it on medium to heavy lanes if I wanted something with a little more length and and little more backend. Well it didn't really work out. The Vicious seemed to be decent for a league shot, but in tournaments it was pretty spooky and it didn't handle carrydown well for me. Would a polished V2 Strong be an idea for a replacement? With the added RG and Diff, I thought it might work. I've been considering an Inferno, or Dyno-thane Thing until now to replace the Vicious in my tourney bag. Thanks for any input...

Check out the new Savage Flip(also on the new website).It would fit nicely with the new V2's and make a GREAT arsenal!Not a lot of V2's where I'm at either,but if I could only have one ball to use everywhere I bowl,it would be a Sanded V2!!!

I am yet to fined a V2 I don`t like.I own the particle,sanded,afterburner(not very popular,but it has been great for my game)and I also have the pearl.All drilled different and all have a purpose in my bag.I`ll be adding the dry and strong and probably another sanded.When you feel like you have went 4 for 4 on equipment you can`t help to get a couple more and see if you can stay hot.

I HAVE BECOME AN EBONITE LOVER AND I HAVE THREE OF THEIR BALLS. I INTEND TO ADD THE V2 DRY TO MY ARSENAL. RIGHT NOW I HAVE THE SANDED V2, THE PEARL V AND A PREDATOR SPARKLE. I USE MY PREDATOR SPARKLE WHEN I CANT USE MY V2 AND I GET A REEEAAALLLLY NICE REACTION FROM IT. ITS SO FORGIVING. I LOVE THIS BALL. BIG PROPS TO MIKE CARUSO AT SPORTS PLUS FOR HOOKING ME UP WITH JUST WHAT I ASKED FOR. I GET GOOD LENGTH, WITH A NICE EVEN TURN TO THE POCKET AND IT FINISHES AND HITS LIKE A TRAIN. I LOVE THIS BALL!! (did i already say that?

) IT IS THE FIRST THING ON MY HAND ON MOST MEDIUM OIL CONDITIONS. IT REALLY IS VERSATILE. I USUALLY CAN PLAY WITH THIS BALL A WHOLE SET WITH MINIMAL MOVES AND ADJUSTMENTS. A COUPLE BOARDS LEFT OR MOVE MY TARGET DOWN THE LANE A LITTLE AND I CAN PLAY ON. TO MAKE MY POINT, KEEP THE PREDATOR SPARKLE IN MIND. AS FAR AS WHY YOU DON'T SEE THEM(V2'S) IN LEAGUES, I COULDNT TELL YOU. I AM STARTING TO SEE THEM MORE OVER HERE (MARYLAND). I HAVE HAD MINE FOR A WHILE NOW, BUT I DON'T ALWAYS GET TO PLAY WITH MY SANDED OR PEARL UNLESS THERE IS SUFFICIENT OIL. IM STILL TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE LANE OTHER THAN THE TRACK AREA, THIS WILL ALLOW MORE LEAGUE PLAY WITH IT (I THINK). RIGHT NOW, I USE MINE MORE AT TOURNAMENT TIME. Well Jeff what can I say. Read my posts on the particle and solid V2. I am also an avid fan of the V2 line. I feel that the V2 dry is exactly what the doctor ordered. By the V2 having such a manageable weight block/coverstock combination I really do not see the gap. With the appropriate drilling/surface combination you can have a line of 5 balls max and be ready for any shot. I am about to drill up 2 addtional V2's to compliment my growing ebonite line. I am going to drill the V2 soild with the pin at 6" to my axis. This should give me length and a smooth arc on the backend. I am going to drill the V2 dry on pin axis which will give me a consistant roll with no over reaction to the dry. Both of he balls are going to b polished around 1200. With these two drillings on these two great balls I should be able to use these as testers on any condition. Take surface and drilling into consideration and see if you can find that the line is actually complete.

And where would that be? You've been a member since 4-22-02 and you have a total of 4 posts, this being one of them. I see no other mention of the V2 series. Do you have another username that you posted under?
