I found this interesting....

Being macho bored, I was reading the reviews of new balls on bowlingball.com.  Then I came across this of the new Magic Touch:

"It is my job to be objective, that is what I am consistently told. I am an Ebonite staffer who test balls. Again and again I am told to give my feedback, once the ball is released I am highly advised review the product positively. I review on another web site but less and less people go there so I wanted to make sure this got out on the largest online site, or at least that is what I am told and what research shows.

"The short of it save your money, this is recycled technology by a company that is hurting and floundering under its current leadership. The ball is nothing special and I have found it to hook less and less with each throw. My advise save your money. If you decide I have a personally axe to grid, which I assure you I do not, I would like to hear your reviews on this site if you plop down the money for this ball. The Ebonite Magic Touch will not improve your game."

Recycled technology?  Hurting under current leadership?  Really?

I personally like my Magic Touch, it rolls like my old Total NV.  Thoughts?

If someone has to preface what they are saying with "don't have an axe to grind", they have an axe to grind. A current staffer might state that a particular ball is nothing special but I doubt they are going to go around verbally bashing the company they represent.

P.S. Companies use some form of "recycled technology" whether is be cores or coverstock formulations or variations of both.

The bad part is, the casual bowler will take that to heart and not purchase products from that company (ebonite international). It sounds like a staffer that has become unhappy with his status with the company or something to that effect. That review has led to a 3.xxx rating of the magic and magic touch on that site, which is a completely unfair rating as both of those balls are great for there designed intent!

I want this ball next, looks like to me most are knocking it down to 2k with no polish.

It is pretty shiny from looking at a few off them, how do they handle medium's oob???

Well it is recycled technology. WHile the coverstock may be a touch different, this is still the NV core. It is probably very similar to the Total NV or the Complete NV. WHen you keep using the same core over and over there comes a point that balls are gonna be the same as others in the past.

this definately a good ball. I had to mess around with the surface to find what works for me. I recomend anyone getting this ball or any ebonite ball take it to 500 and work it up to the desired surface. react a lot better in my opinion

I guess its the statement that ebonite is hurting under its current leadership that stood out the most.  Everyone has balls that don't match up to them sometimes, I've had my fair share.  Like I said before, I like my Magic Touch the one time I've gotten to use it, hopefully I'll like it more and more after I continue to use it.  Every company recycles some technology.  Hell, Brunswick has used many forms of PK 18 on many balls in many different lines.  I don't see a problem with it.

Personally the Magic Touch is my favorite of the new releases.  Clean through the heads and very continuous on the back end.

There's not much information in the negative review other than it doesn't hook.  There are many reasons (other than the ball being "bad") that could be causing this ball to react poorly for the tester.  What layout is in it? What are the bowlers specs (rev rate, ball speed, axis rotation and axis tilt)?  Is it in OOB finish? What pattern is it being thrown on?  Wrong layout selection and surface preperation will kill any ball reaction. So far I have had nothing but positive feedback from my customers regarding this ball.

Here lies the problem. Why would a customer that just spent nearly $200 want to do a surface prep after the pro shop sold it to him/her? They want the required reaction out of the box and if they have to take it back to the shop to do a "surface adjust" it just looks bad for the shop recommending that ball. A lot of people don't have time on our hands like others in this industry.

It's hard for any manufacturer to make a bad ball nowadays - although it does happen. The problem could be within the marketing of that certain ball (i.e. lane condition) and it could be this one.

I could be wrong, but doesn't your opinion about the the MT rolling like the TNV sort of prove the point of recycled technology?
