Tombstone- Anyone remember the weightblock in this thing or..
« on: August 31, 2008, 09:29:37 AM »
have a picture of it?  I got one from a guy who was throwing it away because he doesn't bowl anymore.

It is a low games, lefty drill and I was wondering if it was worth messing with.

It seems to have some incarnation of a bombs away core, but which one?

Link to the ball on 123bowl.com it says to be the first ball using the BOMB technology. There are others listed as well using the Bomb tech with core pics, but I am not sure which exact core the Tombstone used.

I'd be inclined to worry less about the core (just assume it's strong) and worry more about the coverstock. This beauty had VERY, VERY hard particles. I think you needed to use Trizact paper to modify it. I remember it rolling SOOOOO early. It was similar to the original Brunswick Proactive coverstocks in that respect.

If I recall correctly it used the same core as the Tomahawk High Torque.

I guess we can't expect anything else out of a Brunswick guy! He's here to talk up the Big B and if he made a positive comment about another company's equipment that would be the ball to buy! The Tombstone was a love/hate ball and I really like particle coverstocks and liked the Tombstone, but you had to know when to put it up. Just the same as the Warp Zone that I really liked and a lot of people didn't care for it. Just my $.02, Bruce

Well in all honesty, the Tombstone was not really well liked by many at all. The Riptide was even worse but all in all the "Pro Reactive Resin" Ebonite balls were not good.

The Tombstone has to be one of the worst rolling balls in history.

WOW!

Sounds like they should have named this one "Boatanchor" instead of Tombstone.

Thats a shame too, this thing looks like its never been down a lane hardly at all.

Maybe I'll save it for next summers P.B.A. league and use it on those higher volume patterns.

Just notify the manager so that he can have the lanes you use resurfaced after you are done.

I liked mine and I was probably the only one who liked it! It did have a similar coverstock if not the same as the Riptide and it didn't go over very well either! You're the only one who can decide if it's any good for your game and just take all of these comments with a grain of salt, because one man's trash is another man's treasure! Good luck with your decision
