The Big One Adjustments
« on: July 27, 2006, 07:49:46 AM »
I want to give you a mini review on The Big One and hope it helps some of you out there in some small way if you are having some problems with the ball. I drilled the ball with the #1 drill pattern because my PAP has changed some due to release and pitches. I tried to break in the ball during the winter leagues and seemed like it was not consistant unlike most of my equipment. I stared summer leagues and to make matters worse the house started out with new pins and a lot more oil that usual. I tried 2000 grit abralon and 1000 grit abralon and polish on top of both. This ball did not like carry down at all. After checking the side weight in the ball it had a small weight hole 4" over and 1/2 up and left me with 3/4 side weight. Drilled the weight hole same depth with larger bit and took the side weight down to 1/8 side. I am a stroker and do not have a lot of hand but this ball really rolls nice now. The ball goes long and when it starts left it goes left. Carry down is not really a problem now. I left the ball with 2000 grit which works for me until conditions chage. The good thing is all I need now is to make surface adjustments. I asked Ebonite for some help due fact that the ball was drilled the way they suggested. The Ebonite Tech Support very helpful while trying different things this summer.
Now that I understand the The big One's reaction a lot better I would not be afraid to try some different drill patterns. This is a great all around ball.
