Surface strength and texture are more important than the layout, and core, but it is not overwhelmingly so. Though I'm not sure of your pap and thus cannot evaluate your drilling fully, I none the less can offer input on the approximate height of the pin above the midline. A higher pin will give the ball more length, and therefore you can usually expect more backend from the fact that more length, less hook up front, means more energy on the backend.
That being said, you should still have a good ball for heavier conditions, especially those with moderate length (of oiling). Where such a ball may struggle is heavier patterns that are very long (45 feet or so), not to mention lighter conditions of course.
