is Ebonite whores?>
« on: June 27, 2005, 01:56:16 PM »
I love Ebonite's equipment. I will go as far to say they are the best in the world. But why do they have to be whores? Must they have to release 5 balls a month? Promote a ball and stick with it. Brunswick learned the hard way releasing too many balls at a time. They are concentrating on a few at a time and promoting them. But Ebonite has so many Vortex 2's it's insane. Why the "2"? Cause of the origial sucess with the V2 they have to beat the name to death with balls that only have extremly slight differences? What happened to the late 90's when they promoted balls? Why do they take a name, then beat it to death with sub-genre names? They have too many balls that are too similar to other ones they already have!

Ebonite's new catalog came the other day....

27 or 28 balls not including polyester!

Ridiculous! Part of the reason we stopped stocking them, because they get discontinued as fast as they are introduced.

I belive they came up with some better mixtures for their reactive covers. Previously Ebonite had some problems turning the corner in the back end the new stuff seems to be alot different.

Ebonite has really put out some great balls in recent months. The V2 Power is  the best ball I've seen in a long time.

I have switched from Storm to Ebonite. I do think, like other companies, they have put out some 'flops', but that's normal for all companies. If you researched every company, IMO, Ebonite has one, if not the best, policies for return of a faulty ball. As my customers say, Ebonite is the only company that has a place on their site to register the ball, bag etc. That makes them appear more helpful or caring, at least that's what some of my customers say.

If a company shows an individual they care about the product, IMP, that customer will be a repeat buyer of that company.

Just my 2 cents worth.

i don't mean to hijack this thread but i have a question for azguy. i'm about to switch from storm to ebonite also and would like to know your reason for doing it. storm's monsoon coverstock seemed too skid snap and their reactor coverstock looks like its even worse for my game. seeing how their upcoming releases either use the reactor coverstock or some variation of it it's probably a good time to switch.

Trim... do you drill balls? Do you run a pro shop?

Where in my post did I say they were bad? I just said they flood the market.

Has anyone noticed that Columbia has 5 new balls coming out AND Track has 6. How is Ebonite any worse? Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking any company, just don't understand why everyone seems to bash Ebonite for a few releases.

who cares if there are 400 balls are on the market?  you're not required to buy them.  i would rather have the selection to choose from.

and if my pro shop can't stock them all, so what?  i'll either buy one in stock or ask my pro shop to order it.

c'mon, people, there are worse things to complain about

At Track, we just had the 5.0 last month, the Desert and Blue Heat this month/July, and the new Rule and Arsenal reactive that will be out (my guess) is before the season starts, so total, 5 balls over the summer.

From a bowlers standpoint, I like options. I would like to see a ball I purchased last year still in the catalog this year.

From the pro shop owner standpoint, I like less releases over a period of time as you don't have to carry as much stuff. Many customers are on the spot buyers, meaning they decide to buy a ball while in the shop, and they did not 100% mean to buy one when they came to see you, so you need stuff on hand. Granted, I have 3 distributors, one of which I can have stuff at my doorstep the following day. so that helps stocking issues as well. If company X comes out with X # of balls per year, and company Y comes out with the same number of releases, but a few at a time, what does it matter? Well....

Some bowlers like the newest thing on the market, in their head (and I was one of them when I was younger, I bought a new ball almost every week, sometimes more)I wanted the newest ball on the market. I did not want a ball that was introduced 4 months ago....just the mindset of bowlers when they are spending upwards of $200 nowadays.

I see positives about both ways, and negatives with both ways. I also know I didn't get to where I am today because I was a follower, but I was a leader and tried to do stuff others did not because nobody else had tried to do so.
