The follks at Ebonite sent me one of their 2009-2010 catalogs and I find something in their comparison chart quite interesting....
If you look at the Silver Performance line I fully understand that the LaneBreaker should go longer and have more backend than the Playmaker...the core RG and diff numbers dictate that.
The thing I do not understand is that they give the Playmaker a length rating of 24 and an overall hook of 39. The Pin Slasher (same core but a particle coverstock instead of the GB 10.7 pearl coverstock) gets a hook rating of 40 which i can handle afterall the coverstock is more aggressive. However the Pin Slasher gets a length rating of 25...HIGHER than the Playmaker.
Does it make any sense that a dull particle covered ball with the same core as a polished pearl resin covered ball gets a higher length rating???
What am I missing here?
