tornado Q.
« on: July 01, 2008, 01:52:47 AM »
so to all u Ebonite fans, I pose a question has anyone heard anything about the new tornado's. I was at my proshop not to long ago and while I was there the owner let me have a look at them.

one is supposed to have the Black Widow coverstock or something similar, while the other has the One coverstock. I believe that it is the f5 coverstock for those that want to be technical. i am curious if anyone has used one. I'm tempted to pick one up this week. or i might go to the other end of the spectrum and get a cell, but that's not relevant.

I agree, the sole reason I took interest in these balls, apart from the pretty colors , was that ebonite finally looks to be thinking out of the box. All you ever see any more is who can make the strongest longest ball on the market. Its nice to see something different.

However I've learned from my mistakes and am not about to go out impulse buying. Which is why I'm waiting to see if anyone has used it.

The navy/green/silver and red/white/blue Tornado's have the F5 reactive coverstocks on them and the other has the super tack plus reactive coverstock. The F5 is a stronger coverstock than what they've used in the past! Bruce

Maybe they are taking a hint from Storm using Reactor on the Tropicals?

yes but i do believe that the tropical has more of a core to it. i believe it is a light bulb and pancake core combo. and i don't recall the original tornado coverstocks to be all that strong in comparison to the tropical. course i've been wrong before.

Tropical doesn't have a light bulb weight block, it's similar to the Tornado, Jazz and Power Groove, only different shapes. Thanks, Bruce

yes, they are all fairly similar, however i was going off of the diagram on storms website which shows me a pancake and lightbulb shaped core. the tornado has, what I would describe as, a pancake & hockeypuck combo. similar in some aspects but still different.

The Tropical has like a power ball with a stem, but I wouldn't classify that as the typical light bulb weight block, that's why the rg is 2.595. The light bulb weight block's rg is usually lower in the 2.49 to 2.54 range depending on brand. The Tropical weight block looks a lot like the eraser line with a smaller pancake/flip block. Just my $.02, Bruce
P.S.
They all serve a great purpose, you just have to decide what brand you prefer!
