Limited Edition

So Ebonite has produced this NV ball.

And I can't help but being skeptical about the limited editiion aspect of this ball's release.  I've heard a lot of skuttle butt about how many are going to be made and that more are going to be made due to the ball's popularity even without being thrown.

I know when the Skull ball came out it was just a general production.  Then it was popular and they re released it.  Now after many have been sold on Ebay for astronomical prices, its being released again. I can do an ebay search for Ebonite 15 and find at least 3 skull balls at any time.  So apparently they are not that rare after all.  Or at least won't be in the near future.

What I want to know is the real poop on the NV.  Is it just a total marketing scam to attack attention to the manufacter?  Or is it really going to be a limited edition and therefore possibly a collector's item.

IMHO, I think it is a testbed strategy. The NV is high performance, so it would be IMO too early to replace the One series, and it would not really fit in it either.

On the other side, the NV offers new technolgy (at least, Ebonite says so). If it ends up like a mess like the EPX-T1 which was sold as the next best bowling thing under the neon sun of the lanes, this would be a considerable damage to the Ebonite brand.

Therefore, a "Limited edition" label makes the ball stand apart from the normal arsenal, and there is still the option to introduce it (or its technology) in the next generation after the Ones.

Additionally, limited editions always create craze and demand, so the batch will be easily sold without greater image risk for the Ebonite brand.

Wait and see.
