They are not USBC legal as far as I'm aware due to the metal that they contain.  Other than that, they're definitely an attention getter during rock and bowl...

They are not approved for USBC sanctioned league or tournament use.  

Other then that, the ball is fine to use for open and recreational play.

Any unsanctioned leagues, it would be fine.  But you'd have to make sure the league is non sanctioned.  

It a plastic ball and not made to hook.
