striking motion
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:15:30 PM »
hey,

my local proshop guy (who is also a bowler) is offering me his striking motion for £60 (about $80-$90) including plugging and drilling. i know that this is a very good deal as the ball is only about 20 games old and i also know that he looks after all his balls extremely well.he is selling it to me due to not getting on with the ball, he acknologes that it maybe the drilling but due to him having a few other heavy oil balls he is opting to sell it.so i have opted to but it. i bowl in the uk so the oil patterns are slightly different but i plan on getting drilled so it goes long with a monster backend. do you think this work? i know that it will be hard to use on my house shot, 37" long with 17 units of oil, but i mainly want it for when i come across the heavier oil patterns. so do you think that the drilling will work?

You converted correctly the first time unless the British Pound took a real dive today

For £60 I would save your money. The ball wont do what your looking for in terms of reaction and will hit terrible.

I have a couple I'm selling for £35 including the redrill charge.

Now if you can get the one pearl that will go long and give you a monster backend. I've seen you play a few times on the junior tour. See you around.

Can you pm me your drillers name please.

this is not the ball to try to get to go long or backend. save your money, as stated, the one pearl is a skid/snap beast, and the magic can be tweeked to get close. striking motion is early and smooth.

I'll agree w/ everyone else.  I loved ebonite stuff to death, but the striking motion just wasn't a good ball.  It might work, but you're probably better off with something else.

hey, as it happens i bought the ball last night, i will do my best to make it work anyway. when i get it drilled i will tell my driller what i want and see what he says, i will probably stick with what i said and try to make it work, got some more balls to fall back on anyway. where abouts on the tour have you seen me, are you a coach or a bowler???

my drillers name is mac macphereson ( real name craig but he prefers mac so everyone calls him mac) his mobile number is 07919022592. or you can contact him through the bowling alley 01993 897 289, its open week days 9.00am - 14.00 and 18.00 - 21.30 is the earliest closing time. its also open every saturday 10.00am - 23.00 he is there most monday, wednesday and firday evenings and comes in some saturdays. if you phone up ask for mac, if he's not there then ask for steve or dave, they will be able to help you out (steve being my dad). anyway there his number and how to contach him.

thanks for the advice

ryan

The Motion is a good ball when used on the right condition...  Not meant for heavy oil.... and not a big backend ball...

Around here, most who hated the ball were using it on too much oil, or were expecting a bigger backend move...

JLS, i have one laid out with a 6 1/4" pin to pap. Looks perfect on the shorter patterns when theres quite a lot of volume but need to control the backend.

I think the cover is far too strong for the core on the motion but I've heard Ebonites new stuff will be the best.
