Title: Magic Touch
Post by: strikestriketapped on January 16, 2011, 08:28:16 PM
How would a Magic Touch react with a 6" pin to PAP? My friend gave me his and I'd like to try this layout on it. If possible, I'd like it to be a step below my Second Dimension (not as strong as it used to be, many many games on it) and above my Backlash Blue/Silver. Would the Magic Touch with that drilling be a good fit? Here's what I use:

Columbia Pure Physics
Hammer Swagga
Storm Second Dimension
Ebonite Magic Touch (???)
Hammer Backlash Blue/Silver
Brunswick Avalanche Urethane

Thinking that the Magic Touch at 6" pin to PAP and at 2000 polish would give me a ball with decent length and a good backend reaction, as opposed to the early rolling Swagga and Second Dimension. Thoughts?

Depending on how tired the Second Dimension is then this should be where the Magic Touch fits in your arsenal with the layout you describe.

Something to keep in mind though is with that long a pin to pap you will have a very sensitive reaction to inconsistencies in release. If it were me trying to fill that gap I would try a more stable layout (maybe 4 3/4 or 5" pin to pap) and take the cover higher.

I agree with the 4 3/4...Use a higher drill angle and  less surface to create more length if you want it...I would try something like a 70 x 4.75 x 35 before going 6" PAP...

Have had very good success with a higher pin position on my MT. Currently have one drilled 5.5 to PAP and the mb at 90 degrees. Pin is about 2" above my fingers. That rolly cover comboned with the high pin is tremendous on lighter mediums for me.
