Maintaining a TNV

Hi guys I just got myself a TNV and I must say that it is a good ball. I am still rather new to bowling ans also this is my first Ebonite ball so I would like to have some pointers from you guys here. Currently I wipe the ball with micro-fabric clothes after every frame and when I go home I would clean it with the Ebonite Extender Ball Polish. Anyone can enlighten me whether this is a good way to maintain the TNV? Thanks.

I would say a really good thing to do is clean it with ebonite powerhouse cleaner before you put it in the bag to leave.  That will get any excess surface oil off before it soaks in....

Thats a good way to clean it. Polish, cleaner, it doesn;t matter as long as you maintain your equipment on a regular basis.

Contrary to my normal cleaning regimen, I've held off doing too much with mine because I'm really happy with what's happened thusfar.  Actually, the ball seems to be getting stronger as the games begin to pile up.  I wipe the ball throughout the night and once before putting her away.  However, I haven't tried to completely extract the oil from this ball.  I've only got around 30 games on the ball so it's not like I've got 150+ games to remove oil from.  However, until further notice, nothing out of the ordinary from this mere mortal.

But before I keep my ball and go home I clean it with a micro-fabric clothes. Is it ok that I leave it till i reach home before I clean it with the solution? Also does it matter how much of the ebonite solution you apply to the ball?

It's much better to do that as soon as possible when done bowling.  By the time you get home, the oil is in the ball and you're not doing much but cleaning any scuffs off the ball.

Thanks Long Roller I will do this the next time round. But I was told by the pro shop owner that after I apply the solution to the ball, I would have to leave it there for 5 min before cleaning it off so is it ok to leave it there till i get home to clean off the solution? Sorry for all these stupid question as I am still very new to the bowling community and still have loads of things to learn. Thanks again.

I found this ball to read the lanes a lot better after the track wears in a little and it knocks a little of the polish off.  If you re-polish it, its takes a couple games to get that back.  I found "Beans Secret Sauce" to work better in this regard as it has that tacky feel and nice read on the lanes right away without the break in time.

Spray it down and clean it asap, that cover soaks up oil fast and if you wait till you get home it will be too late.  I just hit the whole ball with a light mist and wipe it off.

I don't know about the extender polish.  I wasn't under the assumption this was a cleaner, but it may be.  I was mainly referring to the powerhouse cleaner.

You will be fine, most of the whole "dying" thing you hear about is just the hatred to the company. I personally have had no problems with any balls dying, etc. I don't clean them at the bowling alley, I simply just clean them when I get home.

No one said that it was a bad cleaning solution, they were just saying something stronger like the PowerHouse product that is one of Ebonite's famous cleaning solutions.

I really don't know enough about the extender polish to comment.  I just thought it was more of a "polish" than a cleaner.

I would say after reading this http://www.buddiesproshop.com/product/2537/Ebonite_PowerHouse_Extender_Polish_-_32_oz.htm that it's not a cleaner.  I would buy powerhouse CLEANER to get desired results.
