Warrior Elite retired?

I just went to the Ebonite website and see that the Elite is no longer listed, just the Supreme. Prices don't seem headed for the clearance rack though. Been wondering whether to get the Elite or Maverick. Is the Maverick enough "new and improved" to warrant the price, especially if the Elite price goes clearance?

The Maverick is cleaner/longer and stronger than the Warrior Elite. Is there enough of a difference between the two if the price on the latter is a lot better? Eh, maybe not but I think there is a noticeable contrast between the two balls.

Just read the review of the Maverick in BJI. That's one aggressive ball. It's one of the few balls from any company they've given a 60+ hook rating to. They say the mid-lane is much stronger than the Supreme. 
 
The bottom line is that it's one very strong asymmetric ball. Given your poor track record with asymmetric equipment, why would you want to go there?? If you're looking for strong in the EBI family, why not consider the new Columbia Tyrant? It's another 60+ BJI hook rating ball, but it's symmetric.

I don't know about the mid-lane being stronger than the Supreme. From what I've seen the latter is a very round ball, a nice option when you want something strong and early. The Maverick gets down so effortlessly and makes a monster move to the pocket. To me it was kind of like the Mastermind Intellect on steroids. I would have gotten one a couple weeks ago if I didn't just buy a Grudge Hybrid (which I also really like as a ball in that mold).

For what it's worth the Tyrant is asymmetric... but only has a mass bias of .011. The last couple of high end releases from Columbia 300 have been lower on the asymmetric scale. Might be a good ball for those who do prefer more symmetric cores.

BJI talked about the mid-lane being stronger specifically on the Stone Street test pattern. Balls will react close to each other or vary widely based on the condition being thrown.
 
I'm guessing BJI termed the Tyrant symmetric based on the very low mass bias rating of .011. It's almost negligible. But technically you're correct.

Good questions Steven and good memory about my hatred of asym. Why would I want it? A few reasons I'm considering it..

-I still haven't filled that one asym spot I want in the bag
-New ball syndrome
-My teammate rolled his 1st 300 with a Code Black Thursday night and has previously extolled the virtues of that ball and his luck with asyms overall...
-Other comments on here, I think your good advice included perhaps, that a proper drill could be achieved.
I believe I'm still missing that back end punch and optimal entry angle.

I'm not sure I consider .011 weak and symmetric, but I know almost everyone else does. (Remember when the cutoff used to be .007? That reminds me of yet another asym I've had bad luck with in life... Track 607A, a very weak asym.

And lastly, anticipating the next comment, why not get the Code Black... That is a most excellent question, and I still might. Overall though, I've been drawn to Ebonite, and think I need to give them a chance. I bowl like Curlie Becton and can usually rate a ball by him... The Warrior Elite was superior playing the exact line that's my A game, and if the Maverick is a bit cleaner and snappier than that.... BINGO?
