Let me start by saying that I wasn''t even going to give this ball a chance just because of all the hype... I didnt want to jump on the bandwagon so to speak.
Go back about a week. I bowled a no-tap "Crimestoppers Strike Out Crime" benefit thing. I went in early with the intention of punching up an Invasion. He was pretty busy, so I decided I''d give the Mission demo ball a shot.
First game of the no tap, I shoot a natural 300 with the demo ball just flushing every shot. It rolled awesome for me... and a few days later I changed my mind and punched one of these rather than the Invasion.
Fast forward to this weekend, Indiana State tournament. I havent thrown the Mission at all due do a pulled tendon in my ring finger, I took as much time off as possible to save what I could for the tournament. They used a modified version of the USBC White pattern at both houses. Its a little more oil than I''m used to so I pulled the Mission out right off the bat.
I had an awesome look. Started out standing 22 playing fairly direct until they opened up and was able to just keep moving left all day, finished standing on 33 paying around 17. Shoot 683 in singles, 692 in doubles. I only got in brackets for the first block in case the finger didnt hold up. I spend $70, got back $295 - the ball already paid for itself.
Team event today..pretty much the same pattern, only 2 ft longer but less volume. Finger was REALLY hurting after 6 games yesterday, so much that I threw half my balls in practice with the finger out of the ball.
Started about 5 left of where I started yesterday. Did all I could the first game and shot 210 but cleared 11 of 14 brackets, around the 9th frame it finally went numb and I could throw the ball lol...
Moved a couple left and started to open up now that I could use my finger and started whacking... 256 the 2nd game clearing all my brackets and winning the high game pot.
Last game, just stayed on step ahead on my moves and pured every shot for 300 / 766! Won all my brackets obviously, last game pot and total. Ended up turning $80 into $360.
Sitting 2nd in All Events right now with 2141, somewhere in the top 5 or 6 in singles and doubles as well. We''ll drop of course, but I should still make some money, at least with the 2141.
I am more than happy with the decision I made. This ball honestly gave me a look not many people had all weekend. We took a group of 10 good bowlers and I think the next high was 1980ish..
Cliff Notes: After not really buying the hype on the Mission, this ball is the real deal.
