How well does this ball handle oily conditions?  I'm looking at medium heavy not a flood.  Does it do well with surface changes?  How does it compare to the original?

Well, I think you asked 2 different questions, since the Black ones were solids and the Red and the Gold were pearls, as near as I can tell.

But since all 3 are polished, with the stock surface, they handle "only" true medium oil, near as I can tell, with slight forays into medium-light and medium-heavy, depending on your drilling, your speed/rev rate ratio and your "hand".

I haven't yet taken mine into dull surface territory; so I can comment on that surface's capabilities.

You're right.  I just assumed that, if I bought one, it would more than likely be black.  With that in mind and based on the specs., I thought this ball might be a little stronger in the oil than the typical medium condition polished and/or pearl balls.  For example, I would expect it to be a little stronger than say an Ebonite Phenom Pearl or maybe the Hammer Rebel solid if it were polished.  Since I have not seen anyone in my area using this ball, this is only an assumption.  What I was hoping was that someone who has used the ball both in box and maybe with some surface could give me a good idea on what to expect.  I need a ball that's a little weaker than the big hook monsters but strong enough to handle the heavy side of medium.

I think, due to both its strongish asymmetric core and the ability of surface to be adjusted, it has the capability to be what you want. The core is very flexible but due to its asymmetry, once drilled, it usually stays within the range of that drilling, for the bowler's release. That is the nature of higher PSA strength asymmetric cores. The surface adjustments can allow you to play different amounts of oil, depending on you ball speed/rev rate ratio, of course.
