TNV surface question
« on: March 21, 2007, 11:22:47 PM »
Just got a total nv couple weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with it but with one problem, I can't keep the thing on the lane half the time.  My league is a typical medium house shot at best.  Can this be polished more than the OOB condition and if so what do I use?  Is the ball polisher machine they have at the center good to use?  I don't want to get drastic and change the drilling or anything like that because of one house.
It's 15# 1 7/8 pin-out with the #1 drilling, I'm a righty with pretty decent revs and speed (never been measured though).
Thanks!

DO NOT use those old ball polishers to polish the TNV. Just take it into your pro shop and have it polish it with a ball spinner..

I persoanlly would not polish this ball, but thats me.. I like it 4000 abralon with no polish..

NO polish machine - it uses wax that's only suitable for spare balls.
Polish is not a bad idea. I had problems with my SR300 being too aggressive OOB and took it to 2.000 grit Abralon, plus polish (Brunswick high gloss). Ball goes 5' longer, not much snappier, and retained its good control. Nevertheless, the GB10.7 stuff is still very aggressive.

Thanks guys.  Just out of curiosity, what is wrong with the polishers at bowling centers?  Nevermind, I'm dumb, just read dizzy's reply.
Also, do you think a balance hole would do anything?
Thanks again.

Another note about those polishers is that its not the same stuff your shop uses so if you use it to get a reaction like what your shop guy puts on it, it might make the reaction even worse. Plus those things take a lot of money and time...
