Need advice
« on: October 19, 2006, 04:20:54 AM »
I have a Big One now and love it but it seems to be starting the flattening out mode. Also the house I bowl increased the units of oil they use for a league shot. Combine the 2 together and I am hurtin lately. I have cleaned and sanded the ball and it helps for a series or 2 but then back to flat.

So the advice I"m looking for is, What is a good heavy oil ball? The Infinite One?  I would even consider a non-Ebonite ball if needed. I have med revs and med speed.

Are you sure it's not burning up from not enough oil?  I can't imagine too many league shots have too much oil for a Big One, unless you have a lot more speed than revs.  I know some of these balls have a reputation, deserved or not, for "dying", but a Big One should be overkill for a THS.  I believe many heavy oil balls get damaged from repeatedly throwing them on too little oil.

I too, have bought a Big One and I loved it for the first 35 games. I cleaned it after every session with Knock Out, and then Doc's Elixir every other session. It would skate through the oil and take a strong move to the pocket.  Now, it has stopped breaking hard and seems to float after getting through the oil. I have used a 4000 grit Abralon pad on it, to perk it up, but to no avail. Just took it down to a 2ooo grit, and it still don't have the pop that it had at the beginning.
I just don't think that it could have absorbed that much oil. Is there anyway to tell for sure? Does this kitty litter thing work? Is that used to take out oil?
Thanks!

The Angular One is what you're looking for.  Decent midlane and great backend

I wouldnt go with any of the ebonites one line if you are looking for a ball to last because they are made to just soak up the oil thats why it hooks so much. I would suggest one of the new hammers
