Need Help Buying new ball
« on: January 16, 2008, 09:19:37 AM »
I currently have an Infinite One, Total NV, and a Cherry Vibe. Don't use the one that often (never enough oil in my house, so I will not mention it). Right Handed. The NV has a 3.5 inch pin up/right of the ring finger, with the MB directly below it. The Vibe has a 4 inch pin up/right(little higher than NV) of ring finger, with the MB at about a 45 (left of thumb hole). I love the NV, moves with a smoother breakpoint. The Vibe goes longer for when the NV reads to early, and has an angular breakpoint.
I need to get something that will give me the length of the Vibe, but the breakpoint shape of the NV.
Any ball and drilling suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Forgot to add something. I have a PAP of about 5.25" X 1.25". I also throw 17 mph and around 300 rmps.

First of all, what comapny are you looking to buy from, or does it matter?  Now are you looking for something as strong as your cherry vibe or just what you mentioned? If so you could have a look at the roto grip neptune, will have the length but a smoother break point. Or maybe a venus from roto grip, or maybe get another cherry vibe and drill it for length but smoother break point?

I am willing to go into uncharted territories, ie roto grip, track, columbia, etc. I company doesn't really matter as long as it gets the job done. I have been looking at the Venus you mentioned. That one is a possibility at the moment.

I really like the NV series.  I like the step up between the NV's so far.  I see a difference in both of them.  I start out with the NVs to burn a track.  I have never had a ball that sent pins like rockets from side wall to side.  I get wonderful carry and some killer messengers.  I am able to use this ball pretty much all three games with multiple angles to the pocket.  I due have on order the Complete NV.

If you want the length of the CV with the smooth backend of the NV, maybe the Pluto by Roto Grip would be an excellent choice.  The Saturn was one of the smoothest rolling balls I had ever seen (resemble a V2 Sanded for lighter conditions) and the Pluto is the replacement for that ball.  How much control do you want?  If you want to stay with Ebonite, then I would recommend something like a Bash.  It has a low flaring core but a smooth cover.  If you want length and control, you may want to stay away from pearl covers.  Go with a weaker solid that even if you polish it for extra length, it still wont get jerky off the dry boards.

Thanks for your input. Do you think that the Venus would work? The more I look at it, the more I like it.

Twisted Fury will go long and once it hits that dry spot it turns but it rolls when it does and its not snappy, so that may be a good choice or the Nsane LevRG will really get down the lane and make a very hard arc to the pocket. I dont have a TNV or CVibe but I've seen them and know how they work, so I think the TF or NL is going to be a good choice.
