Need more reaction on backend
« on: July 25, 2016, 11:24:35 PM »
I am a 2 finger bowler no thumb and average about 150-160 per game so not that great. I just got a 15lb ebonite gamebreaker 2 mvp. I don't know the layout of the ball cause the proshop tech just drilled all the holes center on the ball so my pin is 1/2" up and center between middle and ring finger. I need more reaction on the backend to bring it into the pocket instead of bo right past it. My speed with this ball is 15-17mph. The lane had a medium oil pattern on it and i was thinking slightly changing the surface of the ball but would like opinions.

throw the ball 2 or 3 times in a roe not wiping it off then take a 2000 grit pad an the last 3 flare rings all the way around the ball see how that works

From watching the video it appears you are trying to hook the ball more then your style is capable of. Either work on adjusting your release to get more rotation on the ball, or move your feet further right and allow your ball a chance to recover and get to the pocket.
Ignite your game, and set the lanes on fire. www.facebook.com/ignitebowling  or @ignite_bowling

either change the ball to something that stores more energy or drilling change to do the same, ball is burning up energy too soon.

Just for clarification, this is considered illegal.  Maybe no one will be able to tell.  But you must change the surface in a matter where the entire ball is the same, not just a portion of the ball.

Don't do it in competition you don't need to lower yourself to that level

Where is the first oil ring on your ball? Real close to your finger holes?

Try adjusting your line to the pocket and stop trying to hook the whole lane. If I were you I would shoot another vid with you lined up about 7-10 boards to the right and see what kind of reaction you will get.

I wad able to get 1 game in today after work and moved to the right 2.5 steps and it helpped alot. It was more consistent and hit the pocket for a strike 6 out of the 13 throws you get in 10 frames. The other 7 where because i tried diffrent step patterns. To awnser the question about the oil ring it is alittle over 1/2 and inch or so away from finger holes. No matter where i stand. I am going tomorrow and will be able to have someone video for me for any other kinks i can workout. Thanks tons for the diffrent advice and opinios.

If your track is where you say it is, then the pin placement is weak. It will make the ball go longer and flare less. For a high track player, I wouldn't have gone with a long pin to pap for the only ball in the bag. But as stated, you're not looking at what the lane is asking for. If you can't hit thepocket, you need to move towards the friction until you can. In the video, you were much too far left. Hook doesn't equate out to strikes.

Actually putting the pin below the fingers decreases flare as it decreases the differential and pin above increases flare as the differential increases.  The layout isnt really the issue as it is the fact you are not playing the lanes correctly. The layout you have is for backend reaction.  A pin up for a high track player will make the ball push farther but have a sharper backend than a ball with the pin below.  A pin below will make the ball start a little sooner but be smoother on the backend.

Rule of thumb:  If you miss the pocket to the right, move to the right and if your ball misses to the left, then move left.
