Drilled out my V2 Sweet- initial thoughts
« on: November 29, 2005, 06:20:33 AM »
Well, I went to DJ's Pro Shop this afternoon to pay for and drill out the V2 Sweet that I liked so much at the recent demo day they held there. Decided to go with a similar look as the demo ball, pin below ring finger, cg 3" below and beside the thumb, weighthole 1 1/2" left of thumb hole to bring the weights back in line. I left it in box condition, bowled on a broken down house shot at the pro shop house in Auburn. Tried a few different lines for 3 games- down and in over 8 board, slight swing from 12-6, and inside of 15 as well... with a few hand release changes, I was around the hole most of the time, very rarely left corner pins and the carry was just as good from high flush as it was for the light hits. I think I had 721 for 3 games there....

Can't wait to see how this ball goes at other houses.

Matt,

Like you, I purchased this ball after throwing it during a Demo Day last year.  Was very impressed by the "smoothness" it showed.  Pin below ring with cg kicked about 2" no weight hole.  Left it in box condition for many games until I decided to alter the cover (first time using my spinner at the time).  I hit it with maroon abralon then gray (which puts it at 800 or so - I may be wrong) with polish.  Anyways, the ball is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice  No offense to anyone who has used other balls in the V-line, but this was by far (at the time) the best of the bunch!  Of course until THE ONE came along

Based one what I've seen...I always see the clean as being harder on the turn.

Depends on what you mean by "Stronger".
The Sweet is very strong for a resin pearl, super low RG for very early revving, high RG differential for lots of flare and lots of hook. The Clean is a mild polsihed solid that handles less oil, but goes longer and hooks more on the backend.

CHARLEST...  something to replace the tiger.. pearl or polished solid.. for mild to medium carry down.. something for 2nd squad after a med volume oil pattern fresh shot.  I have the savage pearl and flip for drier conditions.

thanks in advance..
