they did already..somewhat.. they took out free shipping from all ebonite bowling balls including columbia, track and hammer.. the prices of the balls actually dropped, but now you pay for shipping. so its like 8 dollars more.

As of right now their prices include shipping. Something is up because they are only charging $8 to $10 over the mandatory price that Ebonite has set for Distributors to sell at. Way to go bowlingball.com, your entire group is a plague that is ruining the bowling industry. One of these days you will wake up. Please take your big ego and go home.

thank you wasted talent im glad someone on this site cares more about the sport than save 8-10 bucks by buying online.     i used to be a brunswick guy however once i saw qc issues and then the price of a fury at 99 shipped from online retailers ive jumped ship and started buy ebonite/hammer   and will continue to do so until the others realize what they are doing to the sport

That's a great point sir,  that's what we did.  We simply adjusted our orders and sold more of another product.  It's not hard to do.  and since the Resurgence has been on back order,  it appears that maybe a few other shops did the same thing!!!

I have not been here in months but a friend pointed this out.

Thought I would add my thoughts and let you good people take it from there.

1. After the mandated (suggested) price fixing we repriced all Ebonite balls.
2. In many cases we were the first.
3. No one followed. We suddenly found ourselves the highest priced.
4. We lower our prices to MATCH our competition. I am sure you all understand.
5. Apparently not everyone is playing nice. There is no legal enforcement behind this policy anyway, you should read the letter, an attorney would only laugh.

Also, please keep the following in mind.

1. We are the ONLY site that promotes getting your ball drilled at a pro shop.
2. We offer a FREE pro shop locator for pro shops, which is used quite a bit.
3. We are the ONLY site that spends thousands every month promoting the fact that your bowling ball should be drilled by a pro shop if purchased online.

keith,

i think that the new pricing should be enforced becuase its the only hope in keeping pro shops open.   You mentioned that you promote getting the ball drilled at a proshop, but what happens when you sell a bowler who is left handed a black widow pearl  with the cg 3 inches left of the pin and mb line?  He may or may not know there is a weight hole needed  also that ball that you sold him could come with 0-1 pin or 5plus pin and then maybe 1 ounce of top.  then when the ball gets drilled it doesnt perform that way it should bacuase YOU only care about sales and not the sport.  I wont even get into propin balls that maybe 2-5percent of bowlers even know what propin means.  I remember that i did purchase a ball from you years ago only because i couldnt find it anywhere else and it didnt come with the specs asked thats when i realized that the internet is killing proshops.

Nothing wrong to play dirty in business, you do it anyways, and so does others.  This is why hurting the industry.

Is the letter directed to Bowlingball.com or to distributors?

As far as I understand, you can sell whatever price you want, since you are not a distributor (to my understanding), just that the distributor can not sell to you lower than the Ebonite mandate price.  Now if you are a etailers in disguise of a distributor, than is another story..... If this is the case I really hope Ebonite stop selling to you.  And as to any other distributor doing the same thing.

It's great that you push people to pro shops to get their stuff drilled. Somehow I don't feel that you are doing this for the pro shop. If your customer gets their cheap ball drilled by a professional and are happy with the finished product, then it greatly benefits you as well. Spending thousands a month advertising that balls should be drilled by pro shops seems a little much to me and its something IPSBIA should be doing. When it comes to other sites not playing nice I guess you are taking about bowling.com because buddies and bowlers paradise are much higher than you are.

I would rather see you charge an extra $10 a ball and quit spending thousands a month trying to help us pro shops out. What the heck, charge $15 more and make an extra million or two.

Please don't feel that I'm only attacking you. I can stand any of you internet wholesalers. One day the government will wake up and set an internet tax to help level the playing field.

Good point, IBPSIA should do something. Check out our ads in Bowlers Journal. We take two a month, call them for pricing, you may be surprised.

Who do we do it for? Our customers, we could easily drill the balls, we have two drill presses in our warehouse. Keep in mind that we are the only online company that invests in our industry. We have millions in inventory, the others just drop ship. With many pro shops telling our customers that we only sell seconds and making up issues with the equipment that we sell it is possible that we will be forced to offer drilling in the future. Our goal is to send our customers to pro shops with good business sense, not those that are bitter and angry and trying to run their business on a shoe string. You know, the ones that think cash flow means money floating by in a stream of water. Sorry, I had to take a little jab. Top notch pro shops know exactly what I mean, I have owned pro shops for 29 years and spent 7 years on the PWBA, when it was called the LPBT, doing lanes and drilling balls and anything else that needed do. I even drove the ball truck between stops, I have been around the business.  Bowling is my life, I owe everything to this sport.

Addressing the comment earlier about a customer receiving a pin or mass bias out of line. First we would need a common frame of reference to discuss the physics of motion. My advice, win a customer for life. Swap it out for your customer, promote your business instead of knocking ours, that is what our shops do. I certainly have a lot to learn, so does everyone concerning the Internet, this is an emerging technology. Who knows what the future holds.

keith,

Are you saying that when happen to ship a ball out to a customer that has a long pin 5plus  low top around 1.25 or less and the cg  about three inches or more out of the pin and mb that the proshop your customer has brought the too shoudl swap it out?  If thats what you are saying, why should another shop swap out a ball that you sold them?  I know why this sport is going downhill its becuase of people like you!!!!  Pro shops cant survive on just drill charges and if youve been in the industry for such a long time you would know that!!!    As far as the drop shipping you do too!   I know you have becuase ive bought 1 ball from you because i could not find it anywhere else, it was discontinued and ill tell you it didnt come from your warehouse.
