New to this forum....Particle Balls?
« on: February 21, 2006, 02:41:11 PM »
wasssappening everyone, well i am new to this forum but i have been bowling for 30yrs of my 43yr life....I had some problems with my personal life and with my back and have been off the lanes for probably about 3yrs now.....I got back out on the lanes a couple weeks ago and still avg. 200 for 4 games.

i recently opened my bag to find my old Timberwolve cracked....i loved this ball back in the day (shot my only 300 with it)....Anyways i am in the market to buy a new ball now....any suggestions?? I went to a local shop today and watch the PBA regularly, the local shop showed me The One and others....he was telling me that since i throw the ball hard i my think about a Particle ball??

Like i said, the last ball i purchased was a Timberwolve......hahaha.

thanks for any help

Then go with a Big Time...can't go wrong with this line of balls.

Suggestion....since you are new to the forum.  Fill out your profile with as much information as you can.  This will help others that are in the know help you.

It is on the left side of the page.....click on - Profile...your stats. this will help.

FYI......your pro driller if he's worth his/her salt will know much more than most here.  They've seen you roll the ball and know what conditions you normally bowl on.

Psrticle balls generally do better when their is more oil and dtart rolling/hooking sonner than most reactive balls.

It has been said that people who are used to throwing older urethane balls generally like the reaction shape of particle balls better than reactives as it is more of a smooth hook throughout thew whole ball path and less of a huge jump within the last few feet of the lane.

Chef: Well, if you want him to get really fat as fast as possible, one of you will have to marry him.
Stan: Marry him?
Chef: It definitely worked for every woman I've ever met.

The Big Time is a good ball, Xcel is as well and the XXcel is a better one, IMO. I have the Xcel and XXcel and it's a matter of the amount of oil you usually see as to which of the three are 'better'.

If cost is also an issue, Big Time is cheaper but Xcel is being discontinued so there are deals to be had. XXcel is my go to ball. It will take more to less oil and still perform the best, again, IMO.

Also worth looking at is the OverTime. Not a particle, but a very good - wide range oil ball.

Thanks to everyone for the fast replies.....I was refered to this site by the pro shop to see others reviews on balls....I was fortunate enough to have my last ball (Timberwolve) drilled out by Nick of Bowlersparadise when he had his shop here in san jose....and now my local house doesn't have a pro shop, so i am stuck going to another shop that doesn't know how i bowl.
but i think i have it narrowed down to 3balls.......Razor Blade, Big Time, and XXXcel.
