Nice smooth controlled ball choice, please
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:34:37 AM »
I'm looking for an even rolling solid or pearl that will fit under my anarchy. I was told the Elevate was a good choice. True ?

My leaguemate has a Lane #1 Droid and Pink Panther.  Both are as smooth as peanut butter.

Control is the name of the game with the Motiv Thrash.  Love how mine so smooth but continuous through the backend.

They're going to be difficult to find soon, but the Pink Panther from Lane #1 is the smoothest reactive ball I've seen in the last 10 years, hands down.

If you're looking at Ebonite, the Game Changer would be a better choice. The elevate will be the longer and more angular of the two balls.

Seismic blackout.  Ebo line right now, none really, if you could get a gamebreaker and polish it that would be good too.

would help if you could give some specs.  I have seen some slower speed/lower rev bowlers use the mission 2.0 drilled control.

If you can still find it, the Nomad Dagger is a good choice.  Being a hybrid, you get a little extra length but the solid balances out the strong snap.  For me, it's very clean up front, reads the mids well, and has a controlled reaction on the backend.  I've used this under my recently sold Anarchy and love the predictability.  Hands down, a very solid choice.

One ball that I just picked up is the Hammer Brick.  This can be drilled to fit beneath the Anarchy and it is flat out a beast.  It's very similar to the Nomad Dagger, but allows additional options with drilling since it has a completely asymmetrical core.  Unlike the Dagger, the Brick can handle heavier volume, giving you more flexibility.  I've only thrown a few games with it so far but my thoughts are that its very clean up front with its hybrid cover, great with the mids and just destroys the rack with hitting power.  It's also very predictable.  Absolutely a great ball to consider.

Stats first and lane topography plus lane condition.  Why would some give you balls without knowing about you, your stats., lane conditions and lanes????  Amazing.

Because it is a question with limited scope and information, so what to expect here?

I also wonder why anybody has just thrown in balls (BTW, I'd also lift my thumb for the Blackout), but not given a thought about a proper setup. You can do wondrous things through layout choice - e. g. through a label setup or a pin-axis layout. No ball alone is the correct answer without a thought about its intended recation shape and the proper layout. Anyway, still guesstimates, but the whole picture is more complex than just pointing with a finger on a ball and say "That's what you need, my son."
