Complete NV -vs- NVS
« on: March 24, 2008, 12:13:43 AM »
How different are these two pieces. I have the Complete and I'm more than happy with it. Just trying to see how to drill the NVS later this week.

How is your Complete drilled? I haven't rolled one, but I have rolled the NVS. The way the core is turned, it acts more like a symmetrical ball and the cover. You'll get a stronger backend with the Complete. You probably don't need the NVS.

It's drilled with the pin below the ring and the MB about 3" to the right of the thumb. Not sure what layout that would be be but the ball has a strong midlane reaction and a strong continuos backend motion.

Okay. With that drilling, you have an earlier rolling balling to take advantage of the cover. My thought on the NVS with be to go pin-up and move the mass bias closer to the thumb so you get some length and more even backend or keep the MB out and still go pin-up for a more skid-snap look.

I thought moving the MB closer to the thumb would give it more of a skid/flip reaction and more away would give me more of a controlled backend. Have I been looking at this wrong all this time......

I have both my Complete NV and my NVS drilled with pin over the bridge.  This is a awesome 1 2 punch.

Unless I'm mistaken (which I can be), I'm pretty certain the closer the MB is to the thumb the less it's in play and evens the reaction. The further away and towards the VAL, it's strengthens the reaction. That's why you're getting a strong backend and contiuation with your Complete.

Also, I would email Ed Gallagher at Ebonite. He's pretty helpful.

The more you move the PSA (mass bias) to the PAP the earlier and more controlled the backend will be. The more you move it away or closer to the thumb, the more skid flip you will receive.
