NITRO/R2 Original/ Anybody know anything about this one?
« on: September 14, 2007, 08:55:07 AM »
Today I found one of these, looks to be low games with a single drill.  The ball is what we used to call "block weight" drilled.  That is, Pin in ball with pin on grip midline, shifted 3 3/8 in from grip center, with a weighthole past the val, also on grip midline.

Found it at a yard sale with a Track T-Shark.  Gave $1.50 for the T-Shark and $2.00 for the Nitro/R2 because the T-Shark was double slugged and the NitroR/2 is a single drill.

Anybody that is or has used one of these originals, what can I expect from this ball?

P.S. Yes, they are both 15lbs!

Had a couple of the originals. Back then they were one of the big hookers in Ebonite's line, but you could also shine them up to get some length. I would think the original coverstock would be pretty mild compared to Ebonite's coverstocks today. Probably would still be a pretty good medium ball by todays standards.

Thanks Mike, that's good to hear!  I've been having trouble with balls being TOO aggressive this year, so maybe this will be what I needed, or at least along the right lines.
