Stop flooding us with Product!
« on: January 07, 2009, 05:44:27 AM »
Anyone else in the pro shop business have the same ball of the month club feelings towards Ebonite now?  I am still trying to sell the Striking Motion's and Sauce's that we got in November/December and now my rep is pushing One pearl,Magic, and Hot Sauce.  I cant buy and sell these fast enough without another ball coming out 5 weeks later i cant wait for the price to drop out so i get stuck with these.  They are 90 days apart but as soon as the info gets out customers pull back and wait.

I use Ebonite and Columbia products but I don't need to see a ball every 3 months from all Ebonite brands. It's just crazy. Thank god I don't feel like I need to buy them all, anymore.

The problem is not just with the Ebonite family. By the time you figure all of the companies releasing what they do it is a lot of equipment outthere.

Companies like Columbia and Hammer operate under the Ebonite umbrella but are seperate companies that have their own R&D, Cores, and coverstock formulations. You can't look at it as just one company producing all these balls.

agreed Ebo does own them but they all have their own core designs and covers.

The real issue with this new Magic ball is if Ebonite really even needs it.  They will now have an approx. $170 price point, an approx. $180, and an approx. $190 price point.  What is the point in that???

Who needs a 300 or 800, when I have a 294 and a 295!?!?!

Of course they'll have the most releases since they have the most brands.  Compare brand by brand and you'll see they're all the same no matter the manufacture.  I thought Storm was coming up with more balls then Ebonite or Hammer

It seems that when a new  highend ball comes out, it sells for about a week or so and then it goes flat.  If the new release is still selling after that,  it's a hit.  Like black widow's, Cell's, Virtual's.

Low to mid price balls have a much longer shelf life.
But you are right,  as soon as people hear of a new model,  they think it's better.  It would be nice if the ball companies could get the point out that some new release's are for different lane conditions, and the older release is not outdated.
