Weeks 1-3:
I got my NVS right when it first came out and wanted it for the last few weeks of my PBA pattern league and the fall leagues. OOB this 2000 grit polished finish really ticked me off. It boasts more overall hook than the TNV with a stronger back end. Yeah, my butt. This ball didn't turn NEARLY as much as I had anticipated. It was splashy in heavy oil, couldn't recover quite as well as the TNV, and wouldn't make the turn if I went past my breakpoint. I was disappointed to say the least. Easily 3-5 boards LESS hook than the TNV.
Weeks 4-8:
Wow, everything I said about this ball in weeks 1-3 is now completely not the case. I'm not sure if this ball requires a track to be built into it or if it just needs some games on it but now this is by far the strongest ball for back end reaction that I have in my bag barring none. I actually wound up taking the cover down to 2000 dull and it crushed the heavier patterns. It got to be a little too strong for the drier ths but everything else it shined in! It is now EASILY 5-8 boards stronger than the TNV in the same surface condition. I actually added polish to it and the reaction is still amazing and I get that added length.
In the end, my recommendation with this ball is to instantly take it down to 2000 dull, use it for a few games, then re-apply the abralon and polish it. Then you will get that reaction that their website talks about. I've seen a lot of people throw this ball and be really disappointed, but you need to give it time. I get a hockey stick reaction out of this ball with angle like I've never seen.
Why did I post this? Because I know a lot of people are reporting bad experiences with this ball, give it time and some surface adjustment and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
