V2 core this and V2 core that

over the years I've noticed all the hype about the V2 core stuff,what is it that everyone likes about this core?it's been gnawing at me for a while now that I never tried one so I picked up a used playmaker to try.

I wouldn't judge the playmaker because the coverstock is different.  The V2 Sanded is probably in the top 5 balls of all time.  It even crushes all the new stuff out today.  People don't understand.  Yeah the new stuff will outhook the V2 or whatever.  The V2 was consistency.  It was the most consistent ball I ever saw and the hook is just so predictable.  Balls today hook strong one time, leave a split the other time, etc.

It has always given me a great reaction

I had 2 V2's, V2 Particle, 5 Game Breakers (and one undrilled), Playmaker, and a Pin Slasher (and one undrilled)

It's a low RG symetric core that provides consistent roll with strong mid-lane read and great continuation thru the pins on med to med-heavier volumes (even the gamebreaker pearl). If you bowl on dryer conditions, it will roll to early and not be effective due to the low RG nature of the core. If you like the reaction of asymetric cores, you not going see that real angular reaction shape with this core that you see with aysmetric ones.

well that's what I was looking for.the ball showed up in time for me to try it out.I was very lucky that the ball fit my hand perfect,and that's saying something because it's drilled finger tip/no grips.
the layout is 5" from pap by about 1-1/2" from val,CG 4" from pap towards the CL.I tested it on a med house blend maybe 40ft in length,nothing snappy.
the cover is supposed to be OOB with 0 games on it,looked brand new with not a scratch on it and no sigh of any cover alterations.
I found the line standing 25,targeting 14-10 out to 5-10 area,length about 35Ft @ the break.what I got was decent length,good mid lane revs and a fast hook/roll reaction,not angular like my flip I was also using as a benchmark ball.the playmaker was very smooth for a length layout and carried very well and was easy to read.if anything I think the cover could use a little more polish but I liked what I saw.

The V2 cores, no matter what cover they are in, are benchmark classic cores that give a bowler consistency and control. This is something all bowlers should need and want.

For years, my highest set was a 756 with a Whip. Little did i know that this was the classic V2 core, under a pearlized AMF coverstock.

Whenever, I have problems with control on a tough condition, I go to my old, used Vortex 2 to get my head back in the game.

I have the whole series but Pin Slasher out of the new stuff with the v2 core is simply amazing. Picked it up used from britton here, pin to pap is 5 5/8 not kidding either ball still flares 3-4 inches and picks up in late mids and just demolishes the rack shot after shot.

Low game is 200 even one of those just toss it and trust it type of balls, at 40 feet i have had team mates shouting at the ball to hook. Myself I just laugh under my breath, at 45 feet it covers all the boards very smooth and just crushes it.

At some point I will acquire another Pin Slasher used with a 4 1/2 to pap layout, the right ball will show up. One guy already had one but wanted 15 bucks too much for his ball, just keep the pin up.

Pin down on that core for me is just too smooth unless that is your game, pin up wakes it right up.

I've used the playmaker now for 4 games with the TJ layout and no grips and all I can say is this ball is a masterpiece.so much control and power it's just silly.out of 4 games I've used it I have averaged in the mid 230's and I'm just starting to get used to it.I now know what all the fuss is about the v2 core,excellent ball!

Trust me and buy a pin slasher used when someone dumps one here, best cheap ball out there period.
