Optyx Formula 1 Problems
« on: May 28, 2003, 09:18:35 AM »
I just punched this ball today.  Pin 4 inches from PAP, C.G. is 4 1/2 inches from PAP.  Pin is out close to 4 inches.  The bomb is at 12:00, no weighthole.

I'm having major problems reading this ball's reaction.  It seems to give an inconsistant breakpoint in medium viscosities of oil and doesn't want to continue hooking(although it carries the light hits exceptionally well).  In lighter/drier conditions this thing squares up immediately and keeps on hooking, yet when swinging from the wet part of the lane to the dry it gives an inconsistant breakpoint even with a consistant release.

I throw it about 16.5-17mph so is my speed too high?  I am very close to an ounce of sideweight, how much should I eliminate with a weighthole and shere should I put the weighthole?  I've had bad luck with putting weightholes on my PAP as it seems to make the ball square up too early and roll out.  Should I go on the VAL above the PAP slightly or below in the thumb quadrant?  Putting it past my PAP might increase flare but I don't know what that will do to the ball.

Has anyone else had these peoblems with the Optyx F1?  What should I do?

Sounds like my experience with the Command Zone Arc.  I didn't have any luck with it no matter what I tried.  Too strong for the dry, did nothing in oil.  A weighthole to reduce side weight would probably help, but I'm not sure of the location that would do the most good.  Sorry.
