Overtime Questions
« on: August 21, 2006, 02:24:34 PM »
for some reason my overtime seems to be both high maintinance as well as speed sensitive. when i take it to my pro shop for whatever reason he sands it down it reacts great, however, after about 20 games its back to going way long. also when i throw it anything faster than 16 it rarely grips the lane and hooks.
does anyone see the same thing from this ball, and do you guys know any ways of my fixing it?

keep it clean with alcohol, carry a scotch brite in your bag to sand it yourself to keep the cover fresh

LG is correct. Dull balls tend to get a shine on them from the oil they are absorbing after a while.

As with all my equipment, I polish everything. I hate dull balls. If I got an Infinate Inferno for example, I'd tell the pro shop to polish it before I even threw it. I just prefer the read on balls with them polished, no matter what the condition is. Anyways, I have my Overtime polished and I keep a small bottle of Zep in my bag and also a whole bottle at my house. It's one of if not the best household degreaser I've ever used, better then any of Ebonite's cleaners I think. Mine reacts fine.

If you do plan on keeping it dull I'd second the scotch brite. I'd also recomend Track's Clean N Dull periodicly along with hot water treatments every now and then.

I have an overtime too and i am noticing alot of over under, ball isnt great on heavy oil and when the shot breaks down it is too strong, I was considering polishing it ,but wouldnt that just tame it down to being another med to med light ball.

Depends on your layout and your overall style. There will come times where you will have to play straighter anyways. I think mine moves just fine on heavier oil but I don't need it to cross 20 boards all the time. It's a versitle ball. Trying wetsanding the cover to 1000 or if you want more bite sand it to 800 or 600 and then polish it up and try it out. I think you'll have alot less of that over/under reaction.

I love my Overtime. If you want to keep it dull then it does need to be re-dulled every few games. For me it barely makes 6 games before I have to put it back to how I want it, but then I am only putting it to 2000 so it is easy to shine itself from there.

Fantastic, versatile ball though. Won my some nice cheques.
