What does the term Over/Under mean when referring to Bowling balls?
-
Over and under reaction.
-
When I think of over/under I think of one ball on one set of lanes that is either going too long missing the breakpoint from shot to shot or that same ball seems to be rolling/grabbing to early from shot to shot. In other words hooking too much too soon or too little too late on the same lanes no matter what you do via speed, hand pos, and area of lane your playing AKA Over/Under.
To me the only truly over under ball I have ever thrown was the Original X- Factor, no matter what I did I couldn't get a consistant reaction out of it.

OK Thanks. I really wasn't sure what it meant.

Over/Under, as I understand it, is when you're sort of stuck between the two reactions. Say you're going through the head pin, so you move just a little left to keep it in the oil longer, but then it skids to far and misses right. You try to move a little right, and it's right back to going through the headpin. As I understand, it's a problem guys who like to play the track area or outside have, as I have the problem sometimes playing there. Generally, if you swing the ball a lot, over/under is less a problem than it is for straighter shooters.
