Question for Ebonite Gurus!
« on: August 18, 2007, 08:13:53 AM »
With the demise of the Time series, is Ebonite abandoning light load particle coverstocks. The Big Time Sanded is an awesome ball and the Smashtime solid did not stay around long(did not pick up one of those to replace the BT in the future. Do not want to have look elsewhere, does anyone know if Ebonite has anything coming down the pike in particle or is GB reactive where they are hanging their hat?

I heard someone on this site say that we wouldn't be seeing any particle coverstocks out of Hopkinsville in awhile.  I don't know, the way they have solids reacting now, do particles still have a place?

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Discontinued... Could probably still be found, as well as the Big Time Sanded.

They currently don't have a single particle piece in their entire catalog and as long as the lane conditioner manufacturers don't get too wild they can probably keep it that way.

With the direction they've taken their coverstocks it could take a big change elsewhere in bowling for them to use particles again.

There will be a few folks, like me, that picked up a few balls just in case. I know I got a SmashTime solid but I do agree, I'd doubt if the particles will be out in the near future. There's a lot of folks that like them, feel they need on in the bag and that's fine. I'm just thinking with the covers being as they are, not as much call for them as in the past.

There'll always be someone who wants one or two, but not enough profit in making balls, "just in case"

With the GB cover and the Traxion covers the particle covers are not needed.  You can take a gamebreaker and sand it 500-1000 and it will hook at your toe so why have particle. Just my opinion which is worth all the money i have 2cents.

I disagree. On heavier conditions, my Razor Blade and Freak were out hooking any of the latest reactives from ebonite, short of the infinite one at 400 grit.
