Question on driling a ONE
« on: December 14, 2005, 02:41:52 PM »
Hey Ive been reading a ton about this ball and heard alot of has to be drilled properly or the ball could be ruined.

Here are my specs:
ball speed: 18-18.5 mph (faster)
Revs: above average
PAP: 4"  by  1/2 up
RIGHT HANDED.. can play any part of the lane.

DESIRED REACTION: i am looking for this ball to get good length and a boomerang like backend (very sharp an angular)

I was looking at drilling #2  4  1/2 pin - PAP,  45 degrees MB.. MY QUESTION: with my PAP being 4" X  1/2 up would that actually put my pin on the negative side???Or if you guys have another suggested drill pattern that would be great.. I was also thinking of a 4  x  3 with the pin over the ring????? Any help here is appreciated.. I dont want to mess this one up.

thanks tj

Your pin would be slightly left of your centerline. For a more angular breakpoint,go with layout #2 but use 75 degrees instead of 45.45 degrees will give an earlier, softer backend.

Hey TJ.  I used to have similar PAP coordinates as you for a long time.  In the past 4 months I have been able to manipulate my roll to bring my PAP measurements to 5 1/4 right and 1/4 down.

For your desired reaction, your best bet might be to go with a pin under the bridge with a 70degree MB placement

Look at the second drilling down in that list.  It should look something like that which would place the pin about 4" from your PAP and the MB in a strong position.  That option usually gives maximum angle for lower trackers.

Hey lil League Coach...adding on to what THE POOH and DP3 said, I have a One with drilling #2 from the link DP3 provided you. My PAP coordinates are different from yours (5 1/2 > 5/8 ^).

Pretty close or identical to 70 degree bomb(psa/mb) placement.
Very sharp backend reaction.
With the 4000 Out of Box Factory Polish, this ball clears the heads easily and is very angular. Of course you can always play with the coverstock to tame backend reaction.

Layout = 5 x 5 1/4 MB (No Extra Hole)
