I was wondering if anybody has lowered the surface on the Real One to 2000 grit. I was surprised how close it was to my Affinity at 1k polish. Expected the Real One to hook more then it actually did for me. I was looking for a strong asym hybrid and was hoping this would be that ball. Thinking of putting 2 k on ball and see if that works. Also have a polished Show Off that is real close to the Real One at 1 k polish. I really like to have some separation on my equipment. Thank you everybody for your opinions.

  Since I bowl at 2 old wood houses during my normal week, I took the Real One back to OOB or 1k with polish. Read the pattern today way too early.  Old beat up wood house today. The rest of my week are on synthetics which I can cover with my Alpha Crux, Show Off and Venom Shock. My Affinity and Real One, both at 1000 polish work well on the old beat up wood houses. All you can do is experiment till you find a surface that works for your particular game. Thank God for my ball spinner. Would be lost without it.

LOL  I went the other way.  1k dull. Trying to use it more on the heavy stuff.  Was too close to my Venom Shock when they both were at 2k.  Shock is a great benchmark ball at 2 k for me. I'll let you know how she rolls at 1 k tomorrow night. Tighter house so it should be a test at 1k.

Mine is currently at 2000. I did this before I even drilled the ball. However, I was looking for this ball to be smoother. The Real One is pretty clean and angular out of the box. Some of the ones I have drilled for customers have gotten a P3 hole placement to help the ball slow down as well. The cover does  take surface changes easily, don't be afraid to play around with it to get the motion you are looking for

So far so good at 1000 grit. Ball really picks up early but still continues through the pins. Really lane shines quick but easy fix. I touch it up after bowling with a wet 1000 abralon pad by hand. Good for the heavy and medium patterns for me.
